New problem in Chrome ... tab title text not readable

I guess my Chrome got updated because it has a new strange behavior. This just began on Thu Jun 17.

The shape of the tabs has changed. No big deal.

But the tab readability has been lost.

Whichever tab I select ... I can read the text label/title on that tab.
But the text on all the other tabs is so washed out that they are not readable.

In the picture below I have two open tabs.

In the upper part of the photo I've selected the first tab ... and I can barely make out the text on the second tab.
In the lower part of the photo I've selected the second tab ... and I can barely make out the text on the first tab.

    1. Do you see this strange behavior?
    2. Is this supposed to be a "feature"? (I think it stinks. Badly.)
    3. Is there a fix for this?

Your version of Chrome is .....?

    Mine:
    Chrome is up to date
    Version 114.0.5735.134 (Official Build)

    Mine looks like this FWIW:

    Theme is 'Earthy'

You could try a different theme.

I also posted this to the Chrome forum.
The reply suggested that I reset the Chrome theme to the default.

Well, it was already on the default, so I still don't know why this problem appeared.
But the solution was to install a new theme. I chose Classic Blue.

Now it looks just fine. Not quite like it was before, but it's okay. The tab texts are now readable.

Thank you for your reply. That's basically what my reply hinted- theme-related.

On the Chrome forum someone noticed the same problem.
He said it's caused by some newfangled thing the Googlerites are playing with.

He suggested that I disable that crud by turning off these two "switches":

    Chrome Refresh 2023
    - Refresh of Chrome Desktop UI

    Chrome WebUI Refresh 2023
    - Enables Chrome Refresh 2023 styles for various WebUI surfaces

I did that, and Chrome returned to its former, normal behavior. No need for any themes. S'good.
