    killdisk time it takes?

When you erase a (full) 500Gbytes HDD with erase method "US DD 5220.22M (3passes)" with KillDisk, how many days does that takes?
I think this method is needed because I have read someone has tried "one pass zero's" method and he could recover 25% of his data.

There isn't an answer to that it depends on disk speed, CPU and many other factors

    Hello @louis14,

You might want to look at the diskpart clean all command. The clean all command will erase the drive's contents securely. It will write over every sector on the disk and zero out completely to delete data on the disk. Deleted data cannot be recovered via usual tools.

Here are just a couple of links as an example . . .

    > DiskPart Command-Line Options
    > Steps to Run DiskPart Clean All Command to Erase SSD Drive
    > Erase Disk using Diskpart Clean Command in Windows 10

Performing a diskpart clean all will take a little while to run. On a 500 GB disk you are talking hours, NOT days.

    I hope this helps.

    You are VERY welcome.

It really is worth becoming familiar with diskpart. However, be VERY sure you understand the commands as it is VERY powerful and can cause problems if NOT correctly used.

Always create a System Image when making major changes to your OS FIRST.

    I hope this helps.

500GB HDD takes a bit over an hour for "one" pass.
For three passes, I'd start it before you go to sleep.
