VS 2022 Community Edition install fails

Has anyone had the same problem and solved it?

Microsoft Visual Studio Community Edition. I wanted to download just the Desktop Development with C++ parts but got this error message. I'm sure that I've overlooked something obvious because as a programmer I am only a humble (but willing to learn) noob. I set the program to download all components, then do the actual install:

Setup failed. Couldn't install Microsoft VisualStudio Setup.Configuration.

Thanks. I was trying to avoid all that, in the hope that other people have already solved the problem. The Microsoft approach seems to be "throw some spaghetti and meatballs against the wall, and see what sticks."

This issue is on a newly installed Win 11, but for many other reasons, I've decided to revert back to my Win 10 install, and I'll try the VS install there.
