How to make a software portable?

I have an old pc game name mummy deluxe with license key from more than 10 years ago. It keep asking me to enter the license key on the days I play. How can I turn it into a portable software with the license key registered in the app? Thanks.

I doubt you can, its probably an anti piracy feature.

Is the developer even around anymore? You usually only have to enter the license key to activate the game. If the developer is no longer around there is nobody around to activate it. If that is true you will never be able to activate it meaning you have no choice but to enter the license key every time. Some more popular games have ways around that. Unfortunately, nobody here can help you with that.

With an old program I had a similar issue. The solution was to open the program as: run as administrator and type the licence key. Thereafter the licence key was never asked for. Maybe that trick works also for you.

If this is the game you can use a no CD patch. This is a nice trick for those that can't get registration to work on old games or games that are old and have issues running under Windows 10.

To make a program a portable stand alone one you typically use a program like VMware's ThinApp. There are others but note not all programs/applications can be made portable.
