    RE: HJSplit Program

I may have used the wrong words but I do have access to the full program now.

HJSplit is not needed when I use Newsbin64 Pro. All the combining and unraring is done by the program. But sometimes when I want to do something very simple I will use X-News to download files. Then I need manual tools to access the files. That is when I have HJSplit, 7zip and WinRAR at my disposal.

Even sometimes NBP64 falls down on the job and I have to do things manually,

But thanks for you input. The right click menu setup in Windows 11is convoluted. I have to go to the :show other options link. If I had paid attention I would have seen that sooner.

Thank you hdmi. I got too many fires to juggle tonight. I will try to read that at a later time. It has been so long since I have been using Usenet that I am quite Rusty(my nickname) at making things work.

    Why all the scare mongering?
I went to Freebytes Webpages to download the program and I got a bad vibe
Because the website has not been updated in years? it's freeware, ever think that the designer doesn't have the money for a professional website? After all it is and always has been hosted on Yahoo!

HJSplit by Freebyte is not just trustworthy
Why? because the program has not been updated? maybe it doesn't need to be because of it's simplicity?

I have been using it since it's inception , there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, if you are doing nothing but splitting and rejoining files HJSplit does just that and it does it well, it did back on Windows ME and still does the same on Windows 10. I don't need something else that does twenty other things I will never need to do in order to complete one task.
There is way too much software out there that throws in everything , including the kitchen sink that one will never use and does nothing but take up space on ones HDD.

"not just trustworthy" = it's more than just trustworthy.

I actually started using HJSplit before Windows ME came out, on an Intel Pentium III 450 MHz machine with 128 MB RAM, a Riva 128 graphics card and a SCSI Yamaha 6x CD burner/rewriter... running on Windows 98 SE.

Of course. I come from an era when all we had for home computing data storage was tape cassette. My first floppy drive was a heavy external unit that cost a small fortune, 3.5 inch single-sided single density (only 360 KB formatted capacity per floppy disk).
