    Windows Problem Steps Recorder (PSR)

    Hi,
Is there any way to download the .exe file so that I can use it on another pc or if one day it is no longer included on WIN? Or does anyone know a similar app that in addition to recording also creates the guide with the text?
I try this guide but I don't recognize the exact line

    You could try this.

At first, click on the Windows icon and tap on the “Microsoft Store” to open it.
When the Store opens up, search for the app you want the installer of from the search bar.
Then, click on the app to access it in the Store.

Is (Problem) Steps Recorder even a UWP app?

I believe it is a built in win32 app that has been around for years certainly since Windows 7. I cannot see MS ever dropping it. I hope not - I use it now and then.

Also, I seriously doubt you can just take the .exe file and use it on another pc as it probably call native windows dlls to function even if new pc did not have it.

I have never seen anybody report having done what you want to do but this is the appropriate procedure

The PSR conforms to the standard pattern of an .exe and a matching .mui so it seems to be possible but I have just tried it and the rescued copy refuses to run despite having used the procedure correctly.

I've used Ed's procedure to rescue and transfer MSPaint, Calculator, Notepad, Snipping tool from older Windows versions to use on newer ones from which they've been deleted or in which they have been changed. It had never occurred to me to do this for the PSR.

    Windows 11 includes the PSR.

It probably needs other dlls or possibly registry entries.

Its all a moot point as PSR is in W7, W8, W10, W11 and I bet it ends up in W12 as well.

The most likeley change is that it gets encapsulated as a UWP application at some point in the future rather like notepad.

It has been announced that this tool will be deprecated :-( Now I REALLY want to save it... but I haven't been able to find a working method.
