How to use windows 7 magnifier in windows 10

    Hi,
Still using W7 (ultimate X64), I'm more & more considering jumping to W10 (enterprise X64 22H2 october release from microsoft) even if microsoft end support this january because of W7 recurrent bugs or old coding.
W10 doesn't solve many things, even W11 still displays bits of UI not complying user's customisation : use them in dark mode and look at many dialogs/UI parts STILL in light mode.

As I have a worsening glaucoma recently, as I'm blinded by bright UI (dark text on white background), I uses the magnifier in W7. It works very fine leaving a magnifier icon on the desktop where W10 leaves some kind of dialog, much more invasive, eating space on the desktop.

I've tried copying W7 app and .dll in W10 but when I launch it I get a 'reference missing' if I'm not mistaken.

Anybody here knowing what to do ?

I've tried to use the Windows 7 magnifier in Windows 10, but cannot make it work. Most Win7 apps can be made to work in Win10, in addition to the System32\*.exe file you need to copy the system32\en-us\*.exe.mui file as well. But even with that Win7 Magnifier fails to work.

Is this the dialog you object to with the Win10 magnifier?

If so, you can minimise it to the Taskbar to get it out of your way. I suggest you set the Magnifier view to Full Screen and minimise Magnifier when in use.

There are also other magnifiers you could consider.. e.g.
    Virtual Magnifying Glass 3.7
    Virtual-Magnifying-Glass-Portable...

MS are not ending support for Windows 10 until 2025.

January comment possibly confused with something like this, perhaps?
How long will Windows 7 ultimate be supported?
Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020. Even though Windows 7 is no longer supported, we've decided to continue to provide you with security updates for Microsoft 365 for the next 3 years, until January 2023.

    Hi,
in Windows 10, the Magnifier tool can be accessed by going to the Start menu, typing "Magnifier" into the search bar, and clicking on the "Magnifier" app that appears. You can also press the Windows key + Plus sign (+) on your keyboard to open Magnifier.
Alternatively, you can enable the Magnifier icon on the taskbar by right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting "Toolbars," and then selecting "Magnifier." This will allow you to access the Magnifier tool by clicking on the icon on the taskbar.
The Magnifier tool in Windows 10 works similarly to the one in Windows 7 and has many of the same features, such as the ability to zoom in and out, change the view mode, and adjust the color settings.
You can't copy the Windows 7 Magnifier app and .dll files to Windows 10, as they are not compatible with the new operating system.

This is the dialog indeed. I'll try your hint even if I did find very convenient how W7 magnifier shrunks to an icon when idle.

Perhaps you read that the MSStore is stopping new Windows 10 licence sales at the end of this month.
    But support will continue.
