    Macrium - User Nameable Drives?

Is there a way for the user to create names or descriptions for drives in Macrium?

As I note in the "free" version, there is an esoteric 12 or 15 alphanumeric name that cannot be changed as far as I know. I had to enter the non-copyable names into Google to rediscover exactly what they were.

Would the paid version have a user definable names for drives? Or at least a way to copy the 15 alphanumeric name?

For those of us who have a number of drives, this would be helpful.

While I'm at it, is there a way to change the numbering of drives in Windows 10? When I installed my SSD, somehow it was labeled "Drive 2" (C drive with system, boot and apps) and the existing HDD was labelled "Drive 1" (D drive).

Hi, great that you're using disk imaging regularly.

Here's what I do to identify my image backup sets of files (full image + several differentials for the same partitions).

I create a folder on my backup disk with an appropriate name identifying the PC, the base build I started the image set with, and perhaps the partitions imaged in appropriate manner for each set of image files - each backup job.

The image files from that backup definition file are written to that folder.
That way I don't have to worry about the image file name at all.

There's part of the definition file I use for this Lenovo t440s laptop which just has a single disk.

You can see the image files a are all in a named folder on the backup disk, (allocated drive letter 'M' - later in the alphabet so it's always the same letter to make it easy).

That definition file is created when I create the base image for an image set.

    To then create differentials: easy:
    - plug in disk
    - launch Macrium R
    - rt click the definition file (which is appropriately named of course- the same as the folder on the backup disk

    - click run now
    - wait for it to complete.

That way the backup disk can have several different folders, one folder for each backup job if I wish.

The folder is even displayed here:

You can, of course, add a comment to backups as well.

You cannot change drive numbers. It is slightly annoying but Windows numbers drives 0, 1, 2 etc. but Reflect numbers 1, 2, 3 etc. i.e. one on from Windows.
