    Can you prevent programs from changing names in programs and features?

    I have changed the name of some of my programs in programs and features to my liking, however everytime one of them gets an update, the name is changed back again. Is there a way to prevent this?

    Because the installer writes what it's set up to write there.

    You can't randomly hack everything and make it the way you want it.

    As Dalchina stated earlier you can't do that but you can change shortcut names to anything you want. Here are some of mine

    Why would you want to do this. You are creating conditions that can lead to all sorts of chaos e.g. registry settings not as required by vendor, inability for software to not work due to name changes.

    Even if you sucessfully change a prgrams name, I bet all the associated uninstallers will throw a wobbler. You could end up with files you cannot delete or entries in prgrams and features that will not work properly.

    This is a very bad plan. The old adage applies "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

    @Cerawy,

    I totally agree with @cereberus.

    If you must change the names, then change the Shortcut Links [ Names ]. Believe me, it will save you a LOT of headaches, diagnostics, and time in the future.
