    How to read html code - Looking for an html viewer/reader/editor

    Windows 10 Pro, Ver. 21H2 (OS Build 19044.2130)

    Howdy Folks

    I'm looking for a good, safe html viewer/editor. e.g. Similar to BlueGriffon, however there doesn't seem to be a current version available: Just a moment....

    Free is good, portable would be a plus.
    Google has many to choose from; however some download sites don't appear safe, e.g. not "https".

    I'm not interested in designing web pages, just converting html code to text for reading, evaluating, etc.

    TIA to all who read this post and to those with suggestions and comments.

    There's one on Portable Apps .com

    If you just want to see the text why not just open the .html file in your browser?

    Have you investigated SeaMonkey? The SeaMonkey(R) Project

    Partially based on Firefox and Thunderbird, it includes an HTML composer.

    @Bree
    Thanks, I'll check out KompoZer Portable
    Using Browser: Yes, I do this when appropriate. Sometimes I'm curious about html that may contain malicious code. e.g. I often read the header and/or text from email marked "spam" to learn where it came from, etc.
    @selden
    Thanks for SeaMonkey, I'll check it out. I Recall seeing it once while looking for something else. I use Firefox and Thunderbird, so ...

    I'll leave this unsoved for a day or so in case there's more ...

    Tried to post sample text from a file opened in Notepad++ but was blocked by Cloudflare. One thing of note with a Web page is whether HTML 4 or HTML 5 is involved. Might try right-click in a page and View Page Source.

    Try VS Code Editor. It is a very good editor, free to use from Microsoft, i know this sound wired. Many developers around the world use this editor.

    The best one is: HTMLPad 2022

    The best one is: HTMLPad 2022 and it is only $39.95
    HTML5 editor, CSS3 editor, JavaScript editor

    You can customize the toolbar and it has different ways of displaying the webpage and code.
    The only thing you cannot do is be able to write in the Preview page. You have to write in the code view. That is easy. Write then highlight the text and press the P button on the toolbar for Paragraph and it puts the </p> and </p> in the correct place.
    It is better then others I tried. Dreamweaver 2021 is overrated and costs $21.95 per month!
    It does not have the ease of use that HTMLpad 2022 does.

    Definitely VSCode, it's the best code editor you can find today.
