Samsung Magician says Second Drive Failing LBA?

I know this seems more of a hardware issue (maybe?), but after having to reinstall samsung magician after some stuff happened, I used it to run some short s.m.a.r.t tests on both of my samsung SSD drives (1 TB 860 evo,2 TB 870 qvo). the 860 passed the short, and before I went to run the short test for the 870 qvo, I noticed something in red on the top right window saying "failing LBA", so I ran the s.m.a.r.t test for it and it passed it, but the red text was still there, so I do some searching online and find this reddit post and a samsung forum post

I made absolutely sure to check the sata cables for both SSDs and that they were completely secure (got new ones with the holding clips from amazon long ago), and nothing out of place. Even ran non-s.m.a.r.t short scans to check for bad sectors, and both came back all blue. I made backups with macrium reflect so if anything goes wrong, I can transfer to new ones, but is this Failing LBA warning an issue with the magician software itself, could this be solved by clearing the previous s.m.a.r.t scans somehow (a full uninstall didnt do anything even with revo pro) and running a new set; I am prepared to grab new drives if needed, but i'd rather save the money if possible

You can cross-check using other programs of course...

If you have done an image and the drive has bad sectors they will be written to a new drive and can't be reversed Mr has an option to not copy bad blocks you need to run that and delete the other

I know crystaldiskinfo can check the s.m.a.r.t status, but it can't do what im seeking right now. I think defraggler can do the tests i want (feel free to tell me if that's wrong), and I want to say minitool partition wizard, but I forget if that function is locked behind a license key i need to buy, or if that's only a basic defrag util or not

at the risk of further losing my spaghetti everywhere, what other free utils can I use that'd let me do the thing?

You can try Hard Disk Sentinel (portable version available).
Has been seen to even comment on cabling.

Obviously as you have been doing do your best to eliminate basic hardware issues by substitution where you can as well.

    There are others...

re-checked the cable placements of my drives, secured on all fronts there. ran all scans possible with samsung magician, passed all of them, the s.m.a.r.t scans and the non s.m.a.r.t scans, even all the scans from the portable version of hard disk sentinel showed no problems with either....well, not exactly. it showed my C: drive with the following overview text "Problems occurred between the communication of the disk and the host 1649 times", but like I said, all the scans I ran seem to contradict that. Other than that, I saw no comments on my cabling from the HDS app at all

So I guess my whole system is peachy keen then......weird false positive tho

I have just seen a 'failing LBA' reported after running the extended SMART self-test in Samsung Magician 7.1.1 on an 870 EVO. This seemed odd as it was a brand new drive.

I then ran a Full scan. No errors were found and no sectors were reallocated.

On running the extended SMART self-test again no LBA error was reported now, and the red 'failing LBA' warning was removed. Like you say, it seems to be a false positive. Here are the results. Log #2 is the older one and Log #1 is the latest, the one that was run after the Full Scan.

So even Magician now say my system is 'peachy keen'.

Hi there I notice in your scan it says aborted by host. So that is likely the reason it showed failing. I did same with mine after I stopped it cos I needed to do a system restart. A full scan showed okay, and so did an extended smart scan. both succeeded. I also tried it on my other 870 Evo, did extended scan first, and it passed, didn't show failing lba, then when i did another and stopped it few minutes in, it showed as failing.

I know this is months old thread, but I came across this and thought my drive might be failing.
