If you tell us the exact make and model of your machine, ( is it a secret?) we can advise if installing win7 on another partition is the most satisfactory solution.

Win7 runs beautifully on intel 8th gen consumer desktop machines. Laptop might be easy or not depending which model it is.

    vhs to dvd probs

Hello . Many thanks for your help. Finally cracked it. What i did was to load the vhs to dvd 3 se disc onto my old win 7 laptop which does not work very well and copied the entire contents of the directory onto a memory key. Then i copied the directory to my new windows 10 laptop. When trying to install it i got the same message "access is denied". However, following your expert guidance i right clicked the setup.exe file and got access to the compatibility mode. Tried one or two tests without success and then altered the settings to run the program as an administrator. Brilliant. You where spot on. I have tried it and it works perfectly after windows 10 advised me to download an mpeg 2 extension for the sound. Great. All i need now is to get a scart to hdmi convertor and i can then link up my old phillips vhs recorder with windows 10 laptop. Thank you so much for your help. I would never have thought about compatibility issues. I have learnt something interesting from this. Cheers for your help Dalchina. I'd give you a thumbs up but the emoji's don't seem to work.

Hello Dalchina. Not sure if you got my last reply. Managed to copy the directory with the program in it onto win 10 and right clicked on setup.exe. Then used the compatibility mode. Changed to administrator and it worked. Installed vhs to dvd 3.0 se. Looks alright now.
Thank you so much for the info. Got me out of a fix.

Vhs to dvd 3 se video probs

Hello. Recently after a bit of difficulty and getting help from one of the members managed to install vhs to dvd 3 se on to windows 10 using compatibility mode. However, when i connected up the Easycap device to my windows 10 laptop from the vhs recorder i could get the sound but was unable to get the video. i started off with a scart to easycap shrouded rca connectors as shown in attachments. Then i bought connection leads which where unshrouded rca connectors and an hdmi connector. What might be causing me to get the audio but not the video Is this a driver problem or is it a connection problem do you think? What do i need to do to find out where the problem is?
Thanks very much for your help.

The most likely problem with that is having exactly the right driver for your particular device. I have one that works on '10 - but there are different variants of the actual device.

I had to try a few different drivers found with a couple of driver updater tools - it was a long time ago.
(This is almost the only occasion when I - cautiously- use such tools).
