PotPlayer takes 21 seconds to open and freezes my mouse

I just reinstalled Windows 10 Home.ver 21H2. and after my Office and Adobe suites installed PotPlayer. It's behaving oddly in that it takes 21 seconds to open my movie and also freezes my mouse in the process. I don't understand such a behavior. Never seen it since I first started using PP 2 years ago (and now in my 2nd PC and 4th installation of W10.

Uninstall (Potplayer) and re-install. Could just be a hiccough install.

If that doesn't solve, uninstall again using RevoUninstaller (don't reboot if prompted. then make sure you use the advanced option to clean up left over flies/folders/registry entires). Then re-install.

As a test, try VLC Player to see if that (mis)behaves the same.

EDIT : Assuming you're talking about opening just the player, not opening a video file that causes the player to open ? What happens when you open a video file (2xclick) ?

thanks idgat--appreciate it. You wrote, "Assuming you're talking about opening just the player, not opening a video file". Well, yes I did say, "it takes 21 seconds to open my movie" so yes I did mean video file by movie. Sorry if it wasn't clear. Anyhow following your instructions to uninstall with remnants leftover and reinstall in it did not change anything and VLC works fine. (Tried it before uninstalling PotPlayer). Odd isn't it? Its present behavior that is and not PP not working, because it was after
all a fresh install of Windows and it.
Addendum; Decided to uninstall the 64 bit version and install the 32bit version since years ago to some this worked. It did not with me. the 32bit has the same problem.

update. I spoke too fast; VLC also does not work. I thought it did because I had heard sound and quit immediately, not realizing that it was only playing sound. Tried Windows Media Player and that too had issues. Installed the K-lite media pack and no change. Mind you I haven't rebooted yet but am too tired and going to bed. I'll update tomorrow if necessary

is it doing that with any movie , or just 1 specific one ? (if you could see where i'm going with this)
if you up to it after "this and that" , install SMPlayer and see with that ,never let me down in years

It sounds like a problem with GPU driver. Try to disable DXVA (hardware acceleration) in any of those players.

Not a big fan of adding codec packs to Daum PotPlayer, leave that to the lesser players that can't survive without them.

As asked elsewhere, all video files or just some ?

Source of files - ripped ? downloaded ?

Specs of files - file type ? audio and video streams ? (Use MediaInfo for analysis details)

Is it all videos or just one video? If only one video try converting it to another format with lower resolution.

Problem solved by installing Media Foundation codecs. Thanks again to all
