About CCleaner

Hello,Recently downloaded an updated version of "CCleane" free for home use.After unpacking the setup file, ran it once, on the heading it said "Free for home use".The second time there was a window saying I have to activate it (to purchase a licence).Cannot understand it - downloaded it from the official site as a free version.
Well, its not a windows issue, but near.Any explanation will be appreciated.ThanksMotim.

You can get it here. I just downloaded it again... and it scans clean at virustotal.com

Hello @Motim,

An alternative solution is CCleaner Portable, depending on your requirements => CCleaner - Portable

Since CCleaner has been taken over by Avast, a lot of people are NOT happy with it. I personally use an older 'Non-Portable' [ Pre-Avast ] installed version and I have NOT had any problems.

I also have it to run in a 'Disk Cleanup' Script that I wrote and I run as and when I decide to that also includes other cleaning commands.

You can get old versions back as far as 548 up to present 591 just by changing the build number in the download URL.

Hello, Motim.

Initially it will download a Free 'Professional' version for the first 14 days, during which time you will be asked if you wish to purchase.

After 14 days, it will revert to the standard 'Free' version.

Personally, I use an older 'Portable' Version (5.79).

The 'Portable' version comes without any added bloat. Just as a suggestion, you may wish to consider completely removing what you have already installed, and download the Portable Build Here.
