since the last auto update some programs not loading

Microsoft Edge for instance will flash a white screen and then close

other programs also

What is the fix for the problem?

Please check that your System BIOS and Video Drivers are fully updated.

now you mention it i've noticed the same thing but only a couple of times, i use firefox but the browser doenst close, it remains open and flashes to a white screen within browser for only a millisecond

i dont have a fix but i'm sure its the last update and probably a fix in the next one.

@Compumind i know all my drivers etc etc are up to date.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt:

Type: SFC /scannow (let it complete.)
Type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth (let it complete and then reboot.)

yeah it wasnt a real big issue for me if you blinked you missed it and has only happened probably twice, i have done the sfc dism for other reasons in the meantime with no corruptions or errors found so no biiggie.

thanks anyways for your suggestion maybe the OP could give it a go.

I've had some similar issues with the apps we can download from the MS store. Pinterest will open up correctly then immediately go to white screen. Facebook would behave like you're saying, although it seems to have fixed itself in the last few days. Seems MS has abandoned the apps on PC option as so many of them have quit working. I'm really bummed about Pinterest, though, because (A) being able to see a large image versus trying to look at something on a small screen, and (B) I like printing some stuff off and usually that means manipulating/copy&paste on PC to get something I want to keep. Now I have to go to a browser - doable but definitely a whole lot more trouble than simply clicking on the app on my startup menu.
