need media server for personal media with 'file explorer' view

I like Plex for video and music that I acquire.

But I also have a large collection of personal media files that I just want to see the bare facts (filename/size/date) of, and I've discovered that's not what Plex is about.

(On the Plex forum people tell people wanting that to find another media server. This Post is me trying to get help finding one. Because Plex is without an interface that displays the bare facts. It could though; if I go into File Info for a given file on my Roku Plex app, it absolutely does know the exact filename and size.)

I know that Windows itself has a DLNA media server, but I wonder if there is a better option?

I guess by 'better' I mean quality of functionality like codec playback. And good support on smart devices (I've got a Roku Ultra, a Chromecast with Google TV, and an LG WebOS TV).

Thank you very much for your reply, Compumind!

I'd already looked at those links and others before posting here. It's just that such links don't give a clue whether the servers do what I want. I'm hoping to find someone who knows, and avoid trying out a bunch of alternatives myself.

    I use PLEX.

So far, it's the best out there compared to what I have evaluated. It has many shortcomings, especially with Metadata.

The internet is both your friend and enemy. Look for a Media Server specialty forum. Not easy.
