No. I link my phone to my computer with MyPhoneExplorer and have done so for a decade with different computers & different phones.

Hi Denis, my Phone Link got an update yesterday, before then I could have my phone, pc + router sitting together and when I opened the link on my pc it never connected. I don't know if it was the update or my changeing settings on my oppo A5 2020 but it connected. Will give your method a try. Thanks

Hi Denis, I had a good read using the older data about the settings. I got as far as attempting to send a text/sms and it never worked. I have Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter installed on my Notebook.

I was talking about MyPhoneExplorer. My Phone Link from Microsoft is as useful as a chocolate teapot.

    George,

I'm about to sign off for the night.

I do not know why you mention the type of WiFi adapter.

Have you managed to connect to your phone with MPE? The bottom of the computer's MPE window will say whether you are connected or not - "Phone connected [phone name] via [WiFi/whatever]".

I use MPE to transfer info between phone and computer. I do not know how you can send text messages using MPE. I think current Android versions stop MPE doing anything to even alter any existing text messages.
