CCleaner very slow startup time on my Windows 10 Pro x64 DELL laptop.

On my Dell G15 5515 gaming laptop.. fully update to date with all software(s)... including today's Windows update..

CCleaner's load time is painfully long and slow.... 4-6 seconds every time...

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en...laptop/drivers

Using the latest version of CCleaner v5.92.9652 (64bit)..
    Windows (v21H2)(build 19044.1706)

CCleaner loads in 1-2 seconds on my Windows 11 Pro Desktop...
all other programs load fine on my laptop...

Has anyone else noticed this or had any thoughts as to why this is happening?

    Hello @Melchior,

It could possibly be to do with the settings. Maybe when you updated CCleaner, it reversed to default some of the settings that you had previously changed.

When I set mine up many years ago, I made a note of ALL the settings once I have finished amending them, along with screenshots, so as I could always check them against the current .ini / .cfg file. I did remove some of the CookiesToSave from the .ini file.

If you did something similar, then perhaps you could check to see if that is the case for you.

    Just a thought.

    I hope this helps.

hmm.. probably not I store the settings in an .ini file per settings...
I checked ... settings seem fine..

Nothing that I know of that would effect the CCleaner startup time...

My CCleaner 5.78 takes 8 seconds to start. I just... deal with it.
It's not like I have to start it more than once or twice a day.

It may be CCleaner fighting with my Firewall?
    These items are all blocked...

Mine is NOT lightening fast either, which doesn't bother me, but there again, I am on a 12 year old Laptop.

I execute CCleaner from within my Disk Cleanup Batch Script that I wrote, and I have Scripted a full 60 seconds for it to complete before it moves on to the next command. I just run the Batch Script once a week, or whenever I feel like it.

    @Ghot

Add these to your hosts file.

    Latest CCleaner Version Released

Note: Changes to hosts file may not take effect until internet is disconnected then re-connected.

EDIT: Also if you are using winapp2.ini then you might need to trim it.

    @Melchior

Try a clean install of the program. Uninstall it and reboot then if found delete:

    C:\Program Files\CCleaner

Then download and install a fresh copy.

    Good call. I added these...

    0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com.edgesuite.net
    0.0.0.0 license.piriform.com
    0.0.0.0 ipm-provider.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 shepherd.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 ip-info.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 analytics.ff.avast.com

    Delay is gone.

    Panda power... to the rescue.

For anyone else... the HOSTS file is here...
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Right click the HOSTS file choose: Properties and UNcheck the Read Only box.
Open the HOSTS file with Notepad.
Copy/paste those lines at the top, UNDER the last # sign.
Choose File > Save ...at the top
Close Notepad and then right click HOSTS, choose: Properties and REcheck the Read Only box.

    hmm...
my ccleaner.ini file is the same as my desktop PC's except for custom includes like game related temp files like blizzard log files etc...
    I do not use [winapp2.ini]....

I have a licensed PRO version I pay for... so blocking the license check url might not be a good idea...
and I grab updates auto like inside the app..

there is only a 1-2 second delay in opening on my Windows 11 Pro x64 desktop...
and the only difference with connections in my desktop is LAN 1 gigabit connected.. and my laptop is using my TP-LINK routers wifi 6 connection.

Ghot/Callender, as far as the Host file goes I have an older version of Spybot - Search & Destroy installed which adds immunizations for bad actor websites to a 127.0.0.1 local host connection to stop spyware from connecting...
I keep my system super clean...

    Ghot/Callender,
thx both of you for advice... and your thoughts..

    @Melchior

The hosts file advice was for Ghot. It was not intended for you. I only suggested that you try a clean install of Ccleaner but you might make a backup copy of the settings .ini file first. I've had issues in the past a few times where a clean install of the program fixed it.
