    Newer versison of MemTest86+

There is a newer version of Memtest86+ out, V5.31b that was released on 12/04/30.
Seems like it would be a good idea to update the MemTest86+ - Test RAM tutorial to point to the new release instead of V5.01, unless there is some reason not to do so.
Anyone know of a reason not to do this? I don't have a system I can run MemTest86+ on (nothing with DDR3 or earlier RAM) so I can't do any testing.

Actually the tutorial points to the MemTest86+ website, where both 5.31b and 5.01 are available.

1: Go to the MemTest86+ website.
However, it should be noted that they say...

Here is Memtest86+ 5.31b, with many bug fixes in the core functions. This build is not ready for production yet,...

What will really be interesting is version 6 with its UEFI support....

[2022-04-24] A new website along with the first beta of the open-source Memtest86+ V6.00 (supporting UEFI, 64-bits, SMP up to 256 Cores, DDR5 & more) is planned for April. Developers can access the work-in-progress source code on github.

I use DDR3. Memtest86+ V5.31b works on my Ventoy device.

Thanks Bree, I missed that. Not ready for use yet. V6 looks like it may, when fully tested, be a good replacement for Memtest86.

Matthew, good to know it does work though.

the 5.01 & 5.31b versions of Memtest86+ are no longer listed on the main web site as of May 2022
only the 6.00 beta 1 version is available which was released on 5/02/2022

    noted in the readme page:

[DISCLAIMER] Memtest86+ v6.0 is NOT READY FOR PRODUCTION yet. The base code has basically been rewritten from scratch and many side functions are still under active development. A lot of additional beta-testing is needed. Please consider the actual code as experimental and expect crashes and freezes. Bugs reports are welcome and very helpful! Binary beta release are available on memtest.org. The first production-ready stable release is planned for this summer.
edit - the old 5.01 & 5.31b versions can be found in the Memtest86+ archives page

    Still says:

    release is expected this summer.

It could remain not ready even after a decade.
