    Endless app problems.

A few days after installing Win 10 my Store and Photo apps stopped working. My Mail app now won't sync and occasionally disappears from my screen. Despite many hours of having my laptop remotely controlled by a Windows tech and 4 more Win 10 downloads (all of which have failed to install at the second boot) I am still no further forward. I finally gave up and decided to go back to Win 8.1 only to get a mesage telling me that the necessary files have been removed from my pc. Can anyone sugget where I can go next because I think I've just about had enough.

You'll probably need to do a Factory Restore to get Windows 8.1 back. Before you do that I'd suggest you try a clean reinstall of Windows 10. Don't delete any restore partitions that might be on the hard drive.

Thanks for replying. That's something that I will use as a last resort but it may come to that. It's so annoying that Microsoft have released Win 10 with so many problems that they don't know how to solve

I wouldn't say these are all Windows 10 problems. Most of the problems you see people posting about are post-upgrade problems. Something left over from their previous 7 or 8.1 install is causing problems in 10.

Ok, that's fair enough, but these seem to be common problems and nobody knows how to correct them. I have spent something like 40 or 50 hours over the last 3 weeks either in an on-line chat or on the phone with Microsoft techs who have downloaded Win 10 4 times (not a joke when you have download limits) and I am still exactly where I was.

I have just managed to get my Mail to sync by using a system restore point and then saw the app disappear from the screen again. I'll have to reboot to get it back and it's driving me mad.

Bonzo, did you ever do a completely fresh install of Windows 10?

How do you define a fresh install?

Reformatting your C: drive during the install.

    That sounds a bit scary.
