How do I remove an app from privacy permissions?

    Hello,

Recently, 5 days ago I installed a webcam and I allowed permission access for Waterfox Web Browser. How do I remove an app from privacy permissions?-how-remove-desktop-app-permission-privacy.jpg
The problem however, is that even if it shows last access as 20/03/2022. Waterfox still has access to the Camera and in built Microphone.

So whenever I launch Outlook Email via Waterfox. I get Capability Access Manager Service to be triggered to run in the background!

This causes the whole browsing to slow down immensely. I only identified this yesterday. Outlook mail on Waterfox browser is slow and unresponsive.

Unplugging the Web Camera from the USB port immediately stops triggering Capability Access Manager Service to run and Outlook is performing better.

It seems to be connected with Outlook mail trying to access camera/microphone for the in built Skype.

I tried removing permission, but I have no success. I also can't seem to remove the browser from the settings after once having granted the permission.

Does anyone know where is this privacy app list found in the registry? So that way I can actually manually remove it from there.

Strangely when I launch Outlook mail via Edge Chromium Capability Access Manager Service does not get triggered. But that's because it blocks tracking cookies, which Waterfox does not.

    I also have this problem

Hello, I have the same problem.

I recently purchased a Creality 3D Scanner, which registers in the Camera HID class.

My browser (Dissenter brows - which a derivative of Brave Browser) grabs access to ALL the cameras/scanners, and prevents the Scanner software from working. Even if I have closed the browser.

I can see the browser in the list of apps that last used the webcam (which is not the scanner), but I cannot remove the browser's permissions.

It looks like the registry keys are here:

However these are protected so you will need to take appropriate measures should you wish to modify these.

Deduced from this Tutorial in the huge searchable Tutorials section (do have a look):
Allow or Deny OS and Apps Access to Camera in Windows 10

You'll note e.g. Avast is not there. Perhaps explained if you click 'Find Out Why' on the Settings page.

It seems an oversight that these cannot be readily removed...

Note: there is a related Group Policy for Store apps, not for desktop programs.

Have you tried deleting the key related to the app (taking care to make an appropriate backup of course)?

Hi Thanks for the advice. I'm still trying to find the right key. It's not listed in the key mentioned in your screenshot.

I would have thought you could seach the registry for the exe file for your browser...
I see no other location for desktop programs in keys called webcam, for example, only one for apps.

O&O regedit is better than regedit at this, as it will search the whole registry and provide a list of results. Free.

Please post what you have in the key I showed.

Note: Brink has confirmed there is no known way to remove desktop programs from the privacy list other than to uninstall the program.

I appreciate your help, sorry that I am so slow I will definitely give O&O regedit a try. It can only be better than the standard regedit :)How do I remove an app from privacy permissions?-screenshot-2022-07-15-173202.png

Here is the contents of the key (see clip)

Thanks, so that's one in the list, but the others aren't, but are shown in Settings....

But you do have two, so if you find both of them together in a key that looks vaguely promising...

Here's the list for Store apps just for interest:

Hmm.. I am a tad embarrassed. It turns out that it is not my browser causing the problem. I think it's a hardware/driver issue.

If the scanner is not connected and powered *before* I boot my laptop, that is when it does not work. I will have to take it up with the manufacturer.

On the other side, I have learned something... O&O Regedit is great!!! So much more useful than the standard Regedit. Thank you for the pointer! :)

I hereby humbly retract myself from this thread, and thank you for your time, @dalchina
