Snip & Sketch working once then not working until program terminated

I am running Windows 10.0.19043 Build 19043 (I don't think specific build is that helpful here, but I suppose I might as well include it), and whenever I use Snip & Sketch to take a screenshot, the first time after I boot my computer it works as normal. However, after the first time it has stopped working. Recently I discovered that a process called "ScreenClippingHost.exe" is running, and after ending that task Snip & Sketch works fine once. However, after that one snip, ScreenClippingHost.exe continues to run, and Snip & Sketch won't work until I end that task again. What is going on, and how do I solve this?

Hi, I can confirm that after taking the screenshot that process closes on mine.

It seems that process only runs while the screenshot is being captured- i.e. quite briefly.

You could try re-registering the app
Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10

using the appropriate section of the above tutorial and carefully observing the instructions at the start of that section.

Apologies for bumping this thread. But ive been dealing with this issue for so long its unreal how many hours ive put in to try and find a correct solution to this problem.

i will say tho that i can say for certain that
    Code:
    ScreenClippingHost.exe
is completely separate from snip & sketch entirely. so changing or tweaking stuff revolving around snip & sketch will never fix the issue.

the Win+Shift+S functionality is fantastic. but its using a completely separate app located here
    Code:
    C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy
trying to launch the program itself nets an error saying that "execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_APP.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem" which is add because i have every known possible VC++ all the way back to 2008.

only issue is because this isn't related to snip & sketch you cant exactly find a way to uninstall and reinstall it. uninstalling S&S does not remove any files from said location.

    :EDIT:

So upon hours and hours of trying to test solutions and looking into the event viewer for the process. ive found that i was missing VC++ 2022 which can be found here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-GB/cpp...?view=msvc-170

And after installing and restarting the PC. the feature now works as intended.tested after multiplie restarts and full shutdowns etc. after snipping the desired thing with the shortcut, it pushes the snip to the action centre allowing for user defined editing within snip & sketch.

For those that have the issues that are similar to the OP or like me in which

    - Manually opening snip & sketch works fine, However!
    - Keyboard shortcut for win+shift+s or print screen if setting is enabled (essentially just acts as win+shift+s) doesn't save snip to clipboard and doesn't push to the action centre.
    - Process mentioned above "ScreenClippingHost.exe" stops all functionality with both apps until process is terminated

if thats the case try what was mentioned above as well as maybe try reinstall VC++ 2019, Again id like to state that ive tried everything currently said on forums from here to MS and tech.ms and blogs in fixing this issue but to no avail.

having the "save snips to clipboard" setting turned on or terminate snip & sketch and resetting the app or going through reregistering the windows app has nothing to do with this specific hidden feature/app in question as it seems what the keyboard shortcut uses, its completely separate from snip & sketch.

if none of this works try manually opening the folder location for the process and try running the exe directly. again its shown above in this post, if you get an error it means youre needing something critical for it to start working again.

hope this helps. apologies for wall of text. trying to be specific about my issue.

    :EDIT 2:
Next day now and its stopped working. im getting fed up with this crap so much
