Disappearing menu option (ArcSoft TotalMedia 3.5)

    Greetings!
I have the following question, I'm trying without success to enable the Music option in the ArcSoft TotalMedia program menu, which allows me to watch tv on the notebook, this option is important for me, I have a version of TotalMedia that has the Music option enabled, but it MyGica S270 doesn't work with my TV tuner device, in fact the TotalMedia that came with it has all the good options disabled, but when pasting the Modules folder of a version that has these options enabled, it works almost entirely, except for the aforementioned option of Music that does not appear in the menu.
The file responsible for the menu is the Index.ml which is unfortunately encrypted and cannot be edited and is located in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia 3.5\Modules\Index My question is how to make the Music option appear in TotalMedia menu?

    Hello @Ro Wood

First, take a look at this:
    Arcsoft TotalMedia Manual

There, you may find the answer to part of your question. Also, if you need to edit Index.ml, it is possible to decrypt the file.

    1. Enter File explorer and locate Index.ml
    2. Right click Index.ml and choose Properties.
    3. Under the General tab, click Advanced.
    4. Ensure Encrypt contents to secure data has not got a small check next to it, if it has, please uncheck it.

Hopefully this gets you somewhat further in your request,
    -James

Greetings @James the file is not encrypted by Windows, but by ArcSoft staff, unfortunately, as I already mentioned, I have a version of TotalMedia that has all the menu options enabled, but it doesn't work on my TV Tuner MyGica S270 and I've already tried to copy the folder from this installation for the other that does not have the options in the menu, it works partially, only the music option does not appear even though the folder is in the Modules directory. The Index.mll file seems to control all the menu options, but I don't know how to edit it or any other trick to make it work.
Thanks for the manual but I've read it too, tried everything before coming here.

When I had a problem with ArcSoft software I contacted their support [even though it was an OEM copy that came with some hardware] and they were fantastic. This was about ten years ago but perhaps they are still very helpful.

I don't use ArcSoft any more because that hardware proved to be the problem.
    - Now I use DVBViewer with my TV tuners. It is very good.
    - DVBViewer has a limited demo available for free but the proper application costs money.
    - I have used DVBViewer for several years now and it has worked well with all the four different TV tuners I've had [from a mix of manufacturers].
    - I use it for both TV recordings & radio recordings.

    All the best,

I found their website www.arcsoft.com but they seem to be a completely different company now. I could not find any reference to their old products like TotalMedia

    That's a shame,
    I liked them,
    Sorry I could not help.

I'm very pleased to have solved my problem with TotalMedia and I'm here to tell you what I did: -I had the idea to compare the directories of the two installations of TotalMedia on my disk, the one with the Mucic option and the other without organized into two directories for that I used the FreeFileSync program and right from the start I noticed that the files TotalMedia.exe.manifest and TotalMedia.set are of different sizes I know these files are important so after I copied the options from the Modules directory of the installation that has the Music option to the directory for the Modules directory that doesn't have them and having copied the two files mentioned above and "voilą!", the Music option appeared in the menu and everything is working perfectly Gentlemen God is Good!
An observation is that when downloading different versions of TotalMedia things can stop working, for example the installation of TotalMedia that has Music working does not detect the channels of my TV Tuner MyGica S270, however changing the file TotalMedia.exe.manifest it came back detect TV Channels without the Music option disappearing from the menu again.
This should also apply to those who, when trying to search channels on TotalMedia, come across the messaging device missing or being used by another application.
That said, I hope this information helps a lot of users.

Another update, I found that both this file with .set extension and the manifest can be edited with Notepad, so I'm working on editing these so I don't have to copy and overwrite the files one after the other.

    Stay safe.

    Greetings!

Following the recommendation of @Try3 I decided to test DVBViewer and it really is and in certain aspects it is better than ArcSoft TotalMedia 3.5, I also downloaded the program that is available on the MyGica page HiDTV, this being the weakest of them.
Finally, I'm using both DVBViewer and TotalMedia to play the TV channels, with time I should use one more instead of the other.
    Thanks @Try3 for the tip.

I hope this information is useful for forum users.
