Onedrive is backed by MS who probably have the best infrastructure in the world, with multiple redundancy in case systems fail.
On what basis do you suggest the cloud is not secure?
If people use weak passwords, for sure, but that is true of everything these days.
Onedrive has the Personal Vault which can only be accessed with additional authentication even if a hacker got onto your onedrive.
How OneDrive safeguards your data in the cloud (microsoft.com)
Of course you can disagree but I have seen no evidence to suggest (main players at least) Cloud Storage is insecure. It is only as insecure as the person using it not bothering with the available security aspects because "its too much hassle".
I would not trust cheap cloud offerings from any Tom, Dick or Harry though - not so much for security of data, but more from integrity of data. What infrastructure backup/redundancy do they have? Who knows if such companies would go bust - what happens to the data then - sold on to dubious 3rd parties?
One thing is for sure, using onedrive, it is unlikely MS will go bust - if they do the world has huge problems! Of course, they could divest the onedrive business but I do not see that happening, as their cloud business (AZURE etc) is a major part of their income.
