@James -
Here's a free file sharing site that I use.
You can send a link to a friend and that person can click and download.
WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free
Enjoy!
Give us an update on your free Icedrive account experience after you've used it for a few days: Cloud Storage Packages - Icedrive
My personal preference is OneDrive. As an Office 365 user, i get 6 accounts, and each account gets 1TB of OneDrive space and as much Microsoft Office as they can use for $99 a year.
I'm careful with what I put on the cloud. But I'm also cognizant too that local backups can fail, houses can burn down, etc. So, unless your external hard drives are kept offsite and secure, they could be lost with the source.
Most of the stuff I have in the cloud is not sensitive.
- Pictures and videos from my cell phones sync to OneDrive automatically.
- Documentation that i have written about some of the technologies that I use
- A backup copy of licensed software that I have purchased.
- Backup copies of drivers for the hardware that I use.
If I had something sensitive, and I needed it in the cloud, I would put it in an encrypted folder or bitlocker vhdx.
Icedrive has zero knowledge encryption unlike onedrive, which offers encryption only for business.
