    Anti-corruption software reqd (FREE)

Can anyone recommend free software which might be able to recover files which have experienced corruption. The files are on a camera SD card. When I view the file structure some of the contents of the top level folders have ended up with non-alpha numeric characters in their name. It's an 8GB SDcard at least that's what it says on the label but when I look at it's properties in Windows explorer it's telling me it's 32GB!

I believe it's a dodgy/faulty card that I bought for my camera on holiday and as a result the computer cannot read certain areas of the memory. And if this is the case I believe I'm stuffed. But it could also be due to a virus. Regardless I'd still like to try and pull off as much as I can photo wise.

I have used a piece of software called File Scavenger a very long time ago when a RAID I had went south but it's not free. So suggestions please of software that is truly free with no limits.

Yes I'd come across that page but dismissed it as much of the stuff suggested had limitations. But having had a second look I've downloaded Recuva and photorec. So will attempt a rescue with these.

    Thanks for suggesting :)

Yes this software has been around for a while and had heard of them years ago but assumed it was photography based. Apparently not so

If it's not for Photos, Use Testdisk instead.
