In simple terms - the answer is no. I have seen many people use these removal tools with unexpected side effects - the most usual ones being inability to reinstate apps if needed later, or updates fail to work. Many will say it is safe because it worked for them, but that is no guarantee it will work for you.

As always, the best advice is to make an image backup BEFORE attempting to use any such tools.

Always good advice. Interestingly that program (O&O app buster) includes an install option as well... and it does sensibly prompt the user to create a restore point.

I imagine it's just a front end for all the relevant Powershell commands as per tenforums tutorials.

The company is reputable, and produces a decent disk imaging program and a good free registry editor amongst other things.

    Two points:
    a. One of those on mine isn't running anyway, so no resource usage.
    b. On any major feature update or in-place upgrade repair expect services to be restored to default.

And you might find some of your apps return, although I understand MS did amend its ways to respect the situation if a default app had been uninstalled. Hopefully that will remain so.

    See e.g.
Can I safely disable Network Connection Broker? | Tom's Hardware Forum

Changing its state won't happen just because you've uninstalled apps- but you could if you wished. You'd save about 1MB RAM for Network Connection Broker.

    Storage sevice seems unrelated.
Yes, ofcourse with a new feature update these will return. I use Windows 10 1903 Pro with Specify Target 1903 and so far last month there has been no forced updates. So setting Target to 1903 means that I will remain at this final build so these apps will not be reinstalled unless I voluntarily upgrade to a new feature update.

Yes, I've disabled the Network Connection Broker. I have done this in the past as well, no side effects unless you need to use store apps, which I have no plans to do so any time soon.

Just disabled Storage Service earlier morning and I can confirm it is related to the Store! After disabling Storage Service Client License Service (ClipSVC) no longer triggers to run after 10 minutes and 26 seconds. It also doesn't trigger AppX Deployment Service to run in the background.
Though I do still see the AppX Deployment Service run at start up but it stops after a few minutes.

Seems like my Boot Time has improved since uninstalling these apps. Startup Last BIOS time: 12.6 seconds. Before 16.5 seconds. On restart 10.7 seconds before 11-11.1 seconds.

So even though I had disabled all background apps initially, it still seems like it was increasing the boot time. Uninstalling them seems to have made a difference.

I did SFC /Scannow for benefit of the doubt, no integrity violations. Though I have created a system restore and will keep an eye if there are issues., but I think there won't be.

Got to admit, I made a big mistake yesterday. I uninstalled VP9 Video Extensions and it caused my 4K 60 FPS Youtube videos to freeze in Waterfox Web Browser! It was impossible to watch any of them. The audio will run but the videos will hiccup. Every video without exception.

I knew this was no coincidence. It was impossible to watch Youtube 4K videos at 60 fps after uninstalling this.

Luckily I opened the O&O AppBuster and reinstalled VP9 Video Extensions and my 4K videos at 60fps are now working flawlessly again!

Thank God I detected this in time or else I would've blamed my internet speed or Waterfox Classic for being the culprit.

So it appears not all bloat, is actually bloat. Some of these are important and should not be uninstalled! VP9 Video Extensions is one of them, should not be uninstalled or else 4K 60fps videos will freeze!

I use RevoUninstaller (freeware version). It has a separate tab for listing Windows apps that can be uninstalled.

And when uninstall is finished, it does a search and delete of all leftover files/folders, and registry entries.

NOTE I always err on the side of caution for apps that appear to be system related or affect other software - such as web extensions and video extensions.

But it's great for removing classic Windows bloatware and commercial titillators.

    EDIT

BUT .... always image first !!!!

    THIS

I've used REVO to uninstall all the MS junk apps. This is what I left installed...

The Microsoft Edge you see in there is the left over bones of the old Edge.

You're a little bit more ruthless than me, a few possibly useful Windows bells and whistles I've left untouched.

By the way, can someone confirm whether this behaviour is normal?

I did not concentrate on this before. But after reinstalling VP9 Video Extensions. This Event Viewer is flooded with these Verbose Information's...

Finished validation and setting the Trust Label on package Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.42791.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe with flags 0x103.

Package Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.42791.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe has Trust Label already. Flags: 0x103

Starting validation and setting the Trust Label on package Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.42791.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe with flags 0x103.

Every few minutes I get this Verbose flooding the event viewer. Is this normal? Maybe I am obsessing over it a little more than I should. But I don't know why it would do that constantly.

Normally happens when I am just browsing the web without watching any of the videos. Is this how it's meant to be? I didn't concentrate on this folder before, so I don't know if it's designed to be like that.

    Apparently so.

And I'd never even heard of the thing before let alone knowingly used it.
    - I have a very standard 1920x1080 touch display
    - All I was doing at the time was browsing this forum and downloading a file from GitHub with these two applications open but not doing anything in particular MSOffice 2007 Outlook, MSOffice 2007 Access.

The descriptions in the General tab explain that my three EventIDs are:
1 - Starting validation and setting the Trust Label on package Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.32521.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe with flags 0x103.
2 - Package Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.32521.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe has Trust Label already. Flags: 0x103
3 - Finished validation and setting the Trust Label on package - Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.32521.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe with flags 0x103.
    Perhaps yours are the same.

    All the best,

    Thank you for that!

I guess that is reassuring. Seems like it was just a coincidence that I happen to have needed reinstalling this VP9 Video Extensions and I was under the impression that this behaviour wasn't normal.

But since you also have that, I can conclude it is probably normal.

Yes, the same 3 of these Event IDs 8101, 8106 and 8100 randomly appear, only difference is my version is Package Microsoft.VP9VideoExtensions_1.0.42791.0_x64 (higher number) I guess a more updated version from the Store.

This is the only AppX Package that shows as Verbose in the AppXDeployment-Server Operational log. I don't know whether with other Store Apps installed it will show this info. But it seems to be mostly related to Microsoft VP9 Video Extensions.

If I uninstall it, maybe this logging behaviour will stop. But I need this or else 4K 60fps videos will freeze. Never knew this was important. But it was the first time I had ever uninstalled it yesterday and today had to reinstall it.

Hopefully this is normal and won't have any adverse impact on system performance such as when gaming.

    @idgat

    Yours looks like Windows 11.

    @BLaZiNgSPEED

I would just restore from a backup?, and then use REVO to mess around with uninstalling the Windows apps.
That way you will be able to be sure, that nothing got damaged.
