CMArbres, not supporting Firefox is a deal breaker for me because nothing else will maintain my complex bookmark structure. As you have seen on this thread, several other respondents use or recommend Dashlane and I am sure it is a great program.

Thank you for your recommendation. I agree with you about not using the browser to save passwords.

I found a site with the sort of reviews that will help me choose: 10 Best Password Managers (2022): Safe, Easy to Use + Cheap The reviews give a lot of detail about getting started and about details of functions (more than the PC Mag reviews).

Also, CMArbres, according to this review, the Dashlane app apparently now is available in Firefox, so it is now tied in my thoughts for second along with Bitwarden. When I get enough time and mind space to take the next step I will probably try Keeper first because its images and processes as shown in the Safetydetectives review really appealed to me.

I've been using KeePass (in all it's many revisions and incarnations) since I can't remember. The thing I like about it is it is completely cross platform and easily accessible to any of my infinite amount of "junk" that I use.
and you can put the keepass database in the cloud such as one drive and access it from all devices without issues.

...and unlike the recent debacle concerning a data breach at LastPass, the master Keepass key is on your local machine completely removed from "nogoodnicks".

Unless, of course, those "nogoodnicks" have physical access to your computer.

Been a Roboform user for years- works either locally or synched to the cloud across devices including Android (can't speak for Apple as I only have Windows and an Android phone.

    Integrates with many browsers
Includes Safe Notes, password generator, search features.
    Auto fills fields
    Prompts to save data
    Edit features
Periodically updated - update is easy.
    Decent support.

It's the only one I've ever found that can display a prompt for pages where data must be manually filled.
E.g. those that prompt for character x, y, z from a password or require you to use dropdowns.

I'd be interested to know if any others now offer this.

I have also been a Roboform user for a few years. Had issues with some of the others at the time. So far Roboform has been reliable and functional. Free? No.

Is that a wise choice? Anyway, everyone uses a password manager whether they are aware of it or not. In your case, you have opted to make yourself the password manager.

    * Can you guarantee that you never use the same password twice?
    * Do you use extra strong, unique passwords for every single login?
    * How do you manage having to remember all of your sensitive data without ever writing them down in physical form?
    * Can you attach and secure files to the data entries in your head?
    * Is all of your sensitive data 256 bit encrypted (military grade)?
    * How do you monitor the web, and dark web, for instances of breaches or compromise?
    * Do you always use the same email address and user name for all of your logins, or unique ones?
    * Do you always use multi-factor authentication and security key?
    * Do you never use your browser to remember sensitive data or auto-complete?
    * How do you securely allow access to your sensitive data to a trusted person in the event of emergencies such as incapacitation?

If you can do all of that, you are a most excellent password manager indeed, and I salute you.

That's of interest to me and, as I am about renew my subscription to Dashlane Premium, I'm now considering a switch. However, I value being able to attach files to secure notes in Dashlane, so would miss that unless Roboform offers it, too?

I also found the following very recent comment on Toms Guide:

One thing you cannot do in the [Roboform] web app, or in the standalone app for that matter, is generate a new password. That must be done via the menu bar or extension. The password generator works very well and offers extensive options to tweak the characteristics of the password, so I just don't understand why RoboForm fails to make it available everywhere.
Do you have any comment about that? I'd appreciate it, thanks.
