Just to keep things short Microsoft Office from when they introduced SpellCheck was the greatest breakthrough.

Yes Libre Office is suppose to be the replacement of Open Office

Honest to gosh they just keep rereleasing the same software and force people to buy it in some form or another. I have three versions of MS-Office I could go to not including the one my sibling brought with limited installs.

    1. Office 97
    2. 2004-2007
    3. 2016-2019 ( 2016 with Chrome Updates )

I mean what is the point?

I have seen these programs used in the working world. Mostly excel. What is funny the same idea with updating Adobe products apply as you could find many art people use the older products they learn in college.

My local comic shop has a techie manager/owner, who was a film student. He uses DOS ( I am not kidding you ) version of Office. It has the same interface that was "reinvented". It is like my timeline of Office generation got skipped entirely now it is back to icons. I really do not like seeing everything as giant big icons but hey tablet computers.

Yeah, I was getting Office 365 Enterprise (downloaded to PC) from my school for free, but I no longer wanted to be tethered to them, so I got my own subscription. Free is fine, but I don't want to be at the mercy of my school....
...but now at the mercy of the 99.5% marketing / 0.5% effective pushed eternal bloat bugware from Micro$oft for which you need to pay/rent....

Based on this statement, I'm going to guess 99.5 percent you don't have Office 365, and .05 you do, but are exaggerating things just to stick it to those who are actually using or considering using something you don't like...

The bottom line is if you'd actually used/had the suite, you'd know there are no adds

    Peace

    Wrong guess!
I have office 2019 but if you do serious work with multiple pages and links you will discover quite a few bugs. Most annoying is that it is overloaded with bells and whistles in certain functions that were in earlier versions clear and straightforward.
Don't get me started with the ribbon menu....
Most of all this forced upon nobody has asked for "help". Example (one of many): "insert text box"in the "insert" menu I am first "force confronted "with 36 graphical representations I have no effing interesting in! At the very bottom is the manual "draw text box". Why can't that simply be A) at the top as the first menu choice and B) why can I not turn it off because I never use it or need it?
There are many more examples like that.

That's why I find myself more and more using libreoffice.
    "Keep it simple, stupid"
The vast majority of people write a 1or 2 page letter....

It's like having a car with a dashboard instrumentation and functions equal to passenger airliner yet all you really need are 3 gauges: gas, temperature and speedometer... (Of course such a car would also have every other day another problem[s]) is

PS It's a Microsoft corporate culture and its in all their products. Just look at Windows 10 OS, 25 GB for what? For all the bugs that are in it? And always every other day another bug or something that doesn't work or stopped working or changed and nobody has a clue. Just read the inane boilerplate solutions "answers" you can find to the many questions on the web. Best of all being the Microsoft website itself which almost guaranteed provide an irrelevant answer to questioners problem.

Well, keep in mind that Microsoft makes an operating system intended to work with hundreds and thousands of different perhipherals, and a lot of these drivers come from the manufuacturers of the perhipherals. In addition, people load a lot of software from a variety of places. They they assemble their computers, using their parts...so the combination of possibilities is also endless, and they they install their software, third party add-ons, cleaning tools, registry cleaners...and who knows what else.

Its pretty mark to make something like the above and have it work perfectly everywhere. While I have not agreed with every change, or every decision that Microsoft has made, for almost all of my configurations the OS has worked pretty darn well.

Everything has bugs. The last time I checked there wasn't single piece of "perfect software" Maybe in your world it exists, but for the rest of the world, reality says differently

Again, I've been using Office since 1998 (corporate, government, and personally). And when I say use, I'm talking professional presentations for high profile meetings. And it includes all facets of Office, including Access

Anyway, I see no reason to use anything else. YMMV.

What a load of twaddle. The use of the childish Micro$oft shows you are basicaly biased to point of just making crass statements.

Microsoft Office has a lot of really nice professional features and a lot of features. Again I don't use office suites often. Again I use LibreOffice rarely sometimes
