    Savefrom.net

At some stage I have installed an addon/plugin/extension from here -----> Search results for "savefrom" – Add-ons for Firefox (en-US). It ended up being useless so removed it.

''''''OR AT LEAST I THOUGHT I HAD''''''

I use ESET Internet Smart Security, which is where I saw the tab for savefrom.net, HOWEVER it only appears in ESET's ESET Banking & Payment protection, a separate secure browser.

I tried the obvious first check in addon/plugin/extension, not in there.
I then deleted the bookmark from the window.
I then went into Manage Bookmarks, deleted it, got a warning that if I did all of it would be removed said okay to that.
Then went into regedit, did a search for saveform, it found one entry that matched exactly saveform.net, I deleted that, then I rebooted my PC.

Opened up ESET Banking & Payment protection, and there it was again.

I then ran Malwarebytes and Spybot, both of them found nothing.

I've tried everything I can think of, the bookmark will just not go away.

    Please help

    Hello @Fiery,

Unfortunately, these sort of things tend to bury themselves deep inside the OS, and is virtually impossible to detect and remove ALL instances of the item.

However, one piece of Software [ FREE ] does an excellent job of Removing practically ALL instances. I am NOT sure if this will work in your situation though, but it is certainly worthwhile remembering for possible future use.

     Revo Uninstaller - FREE

    About Revo Uninstaller - FREE:

The Uninstaller module is Revo Uninstaller s primary feature for situations when a program wont uninstall normally or when you have some doubts that a program has not been uninstalled completely.

Also when a program is uninstalled, often times there are multiple files, folders, and/or Registry entries left on your system, which can cause various issues if not removed. This happens more frequently than you might think.

Revo Uninstaller acts as both a replacement and a supplement to the built-in functionality in Windows by first running the built-in uninstaller for the program, and then scanning for leftover data afterwards, making it your best choice when it comes to completely remove stubborn programs, temporary files, and other unnecessary program data that is left behind after the standard uninstall process.

I find that when uninstalling software, Revo Uninstaller [ FREE ] is excellent. It has an option to Scan for leftover items after the initial uninstall [ using the software own uninstall process if one exists ] using an Advanced Scan option.

    > Website & Download => Revo Uninstaller [ FREE ]

    I hope this helps.

    Savefrom.net

I already use Revo, but this little sucker can't be found. It's not like an app, I could use Revo for.

Have you checked the scheduled tasks to see if it is being re installed from there? Also try ADWCleaner it might catch where the little bugger is hiding.

If you mean that it appears in Firefox bookmarks then just delete the bookmark.

If you mean that it appears in the list of sites monitored by ESET Banking & Payment protection then remove it from the list.

    See "Edit protected websites"

[KB5657] Use ESET Banking & Payment protection

Seems to be an ESET problem so ask them.

RE: Deleting bookmark. I meant remove the site from the list of protected websites then disable ESET protection, reboot, launch Firefox and delete the bookmark if still present.

Also maybe try running this and see what gives:

EDIT: That tool only works with 32bit firefox.

FYI. As a test i installed that extension in Firefox. It did not create it's own bookmark, I uninstalled the extension and it left no trace.
