The biggest issue I've run into with iTunes is needing to have the license for downloads with it or the songs won't play, ran into that with a client's computer just last week.

worked perfectly
that is amazing... I've read so many articles that had complicated steps... copy and paste, with to replace the newly installed library... worked perfectly and
it did not take 19 hours... using an external hard drive, it took a bit over an hour to copy, about 20 minutes to paste...
you were talking about purchases? license for downloads?
I tried to play two of them, they played in the iTunes library
haven't tried to put them on the iPod in case that makes a difference
thank you! I've saved the notes for this in case...
Yep, I can confirm that when I’ve done this (many times) all music works, all the album covers are there & I can add new music & all is fine.
again, amazing after the various instructions I tried and the poor results
when I first read yours I thought... if it were that easy, everyone would be doing that...
but, then the other instructions all only imported part of the library...
I've moved my iTunes library twice before, both times I settled for making them let me reinstall my purchases (remember when they wouldn't?) and the reinstalling from "my music"
and, I think I mentioned, asking the 2nd level apple tech about moving the library, he said something like "good luck with that"
but then, he also did not know how to clear the cache, I found later on apple site
I imagine there is a lot to keep track of
Thank you again... super points for the best and easiest solution
You’re welcome.
I found this out after doing the same with the Windows Live Mail folder to restore my email account & the emails therein after needing to clean install that program many years ago. I wondered if I could do the same with the iTunes folder after reinstalling that program & I found it worked. Previously I had to download everything again (at the time this included Apps as well) & re-add my photos, music & ringtones.
Hmmmm.... windows live....
I have not had a copy of the pst folder show the actual state of my Outlook contacts and calendar...
I'm using Office 2007, so I wondered it it is old... I did a copy, paste again...
though now I think of it, I did remove the pst file from the new computer before copying the old...
at least, I think I did... it is beginning to become a muddle
totally different topic, I bored with the big blue square and "C" but, I don't see how to upload a "profile" picture
or, is that reserved?
Happy Halloween ;-)
Outlook & Windows Live Mail are separate programs. Live Mail uses .eml file extension whereas Outlook (Office) uses .pst file extension.
I too have the same problem with Outlook not showing any profile photo. The problem was there in Windows 10 & remains in Windows 11.
If you click on the blue C icon it should allow you to upload a photo. I’ve tried this & nothing changes.
It should show the profile photo of the Microsoft account it is connected to.
