    MyPhone / YourPhone issues

I have number of problems with MyPhone and with Your Phone, both of which I have not been able to use for a couple of months:
    1. The MyPhone app on my PC has been unable to find my Android phone's IP address so they are unable to connect, although apart from that the app is working2. I have not been able so far to download the new version of MyPhone which is now available with some new features3. Access to the MyPhone website is 'corrupted' somehow, most of it seems to be blocked by adverts, so I have not been able to get help via its Forum yet --- otherwise I would be posting this there4. Plus I have not had a response to my request for a Forum password reset or discovered how to register
    5. As for YourPhone it has not been displaying my photos for a while and now it is not connecting to the phone at all, in fact the Windows app itself seems to have failed and is trying to start the whole set-up procedure again from the start, and is unable to connect although the Companion app on the phone is ready

I am not really expecting help on this Forum, except for 5, but as there some fans of MyPhone here any suggestions on how to regain access to the MyPhone Forum in
    paticular would be welcome

    "MyPhone"?

    Do you mean FJSoft's MyPhoneExplorer?

Check your WiFi network / phone's WiFi hotspot is on,

    On your phone:
    Run MPE,
tap its icon again to get the interface showing,
    read its IP address.

    On your computer:
    MPE,
    File menu,
    Settings,
    Connection,
Fixed IP address - enter the IP address from the phone,
    OK.

    Now it should connect.

I am still using v1.8.15 but have just gone to
    MyPhoneExplorer | Functions
and can see that v1.9.0 is available. If, as I suspect, you are also on v1.8.15 then I'll stay on it until your problem is resolved.
    [I'm on Android 11]

    All the best,
    Denis

    malformed?

I have at last got time to deal with this but when I try to paste the IP address it is rejected as being 'malformed'. How can it be malformed via copy/paste? It does look like the space for IP address in MPE Settings is too small but cant be sure of that (one criticism I have is that everything is too small in MPE).

I never try to paste between my computer and my phone. I just read the IP off the phone and write it in the computer.

Both the MPE IP address fields [the one on the phone & the one on the computer] have the same layout.
Perhaps your copy-paste method is trying to squeeze, say, the last two fields into the same field instead of separate fields.

My And roid phone lists 2 IPs, one very long with number and alpha digits so not the right one but the other much shorter one in numbers only. I have entered these manually several times. They 'fit' but are still rejected. I notice that my 'location' is shown as a city hundreds of miles away from an errormy correct location, but I believe this does not signify an error. Is this correct?

I am sure now that I have entered the correct IP but as you can see I still cannot connect. I have tried the various options such as WiFi, IP, Automatic. The latter switches to BlueTooth which often does not work as it should so I have not chosen that. USB instructions seemmore complicated. I didn't have this trouble when I first connected, but I don't remember which option was selected then.

The MPE interface on your phone only shows a single IP.

Almost but not completely solved. To make contact I found that not only the IP address is required. In addition a PIN code has to be entered. Only once have I seen this asked for. There is a PIN displayed below the IP address and a box to enter it, after which the connection procedure starts and ends successfully. But I have found this only lasts for a while (I have not yet identified how long) and has to be repeated. How do I make it permanent?

I've never set an MPE PIN and know nothing about the subject.
I only run MPE when I want to do something and then I close it again afterwards so an intruder wouldn't get much chance to slip in anyway.

"I have found this only lasts for a while (I have not yet identified how long) and has to be repeated"
    Do you mean that
it asks for the PIN again, or
MPE on the phone stops running, and/or
MPE on the computer suddenly shows that it has no connection anymore?
