(help needed) creating a specific uBlock filter

Have found a number of instructions regarding wildcards, how they (don't) work and what CSS entails for uBlock Origin filtering instead, but it's beyond me. Help would be much appreciated.

I want to disable the sidebar from this website: techpowerup.com
You go about it the usual way, this is what you get:

    ###page > .side-aslkdhsajkd-bar

Now the "aslkdhsajkd" part is random, so what i want is a filter that effectively blocks all random entries inbetween the fixed ones, ie:

    ###page > .side-*.*-bar

Obviously this isn't valid for uBlock, hence the OP. Can someone help me out?
It's not just the specific site, have come across a number of similar instances and the dashes are a killer, just can't figure out how to do the ^id part correctly..

And my thanks for reading :)

    @Aenra

Can you post a screen shot of how that website LOOKS to you?
This is how I see that website...

I don't use Ublock, I use a custom Hosts file instead.

    Hi @Ghot, sure thing:
What i see (got a couple of things going on, but do ignore):

And the reason for the OP, as explained:

(notice the filter syntax; as mentioned, the "text" between the dashes is randomised)

Try this, but check if anything else doesn't work.

    It worked!
Thanks a lot Das, i really appreciate it :)

Would i be pushing it if i requested you explained it to me? For future reference that is; got a number of filters i couldn't add due to dashes.
It's the "a" in "aside" that confuses me, given that the original filter has no "a" in it, only "side"?

(needless to say, no offense if you can't be bothered. Again, much obliged for your time)

As a rule, members are generally not allowed to discuss Ad blockers as such, but all I can tell you is to research the developer tools (which you normally access via F12 key) ; although sometimes, randomly generated paths may be impossible to block using a static rule.

Wasn't aware, my apologies to the mod team.

Will mark this as solved -as it is- and will thank you once more Das; much obliged :)
