How delete new Microsoft Photo Viewer and get back my Win Photo Viewer

A recent MS update replaced my old style Windows Photo Viewer with a new Microsoft Photo Viewer which I greatly dislike.

What's the best way to delete the MS PV and get back my Windows PV?

    Windows 10 Home v 20H2, OS build 19042.928
Dell XPS 8940 Tower 10th gen Intel Core i7-10700
    Dell XPS58940-7262BLK-PUS

Winaero Tweaker You can use winareotweaker to enable the old Windows Photo Viewer.
Open powershell as a administrator and then run the following command to remove the new photo app: Get-AppxPackage *photos* | Remove-AppxPackage

The update didn't delete the Windows Photo Viewer, but it may have reset the default for opening images to the Photos app. There is no need to delete anything. Just make sure the Windows Photo Viewer is enabled, using this tutorial.

Thanks guys for all the help. I haven't made the update yet but I am sure your suggestions will do the job.

Like everyone else I HATE IT WHEN MS PULL THIS S@#$.

I also found this. It worked great:

It's easy to get the trusty old Windows Photo Viewer back -- simply open up Settings and go to System > Default apps. Under "Photo viewer," you should see your current default photo viewer (probably the new Photos app). Click this to see a list of options for a new default photo viewer.
Choose Windows Photo Viewer and exit the Settings menu, and you're done -- photos will now open up in Windows Photo Viewer.

Glad that worked for you, but the Windows Photo Viewer was only available in the list of options because you had previously enabled it.

For others reading this thread, if you have not already done so you first need to restore the WPV using this tutorial.

    TF Team,

As I mentioned in the top post, I assumed the problem was cause by a MS upgrade, so that the original program was still there. I just needed help in "undoing" the upgrade.
