Is Classic Shell Suitable For Laptops?

I have a desktop which my knowlegable friend set up with classic shell version of Win10 when he installed it for me, because I wanted something close to Win7 as I liked the way it worked. I'm getting a new laptop and wonder if I should change the Win10 it comes with to classic shell. Is CS suitable for laptops? Will it work just as well on the laptop as on my desktop, or should I leave it as normal Win10? I would like my laptop to work the same as my desktop to keep things simple.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge. Thanks for any advice.

And it is not coming with/from Windows but is a third-party software that can be installed and its features used as desired on any current Windows computer.

Yes, both Classic Shell and Open Shell should work fine. Note the mouse hover feature to open the menu does not work correctly in Windows 11.

Thanks to all for your help. Great replies - just what I needed.

Steve C>>>>> Don't think I'll be changing to 11 for a while. I held onto 7 until the bitter end and was forced to change because of lack of Windows support. Why do they have to keep changing things!

I have one more question. My new laptop comes with Windows 10 S. I want to disable the 'S' function and I believe that when I do Win 10 will be changed to Pro. Can I keep it as Home if I disable 'S'? If I have to keep Pro after disabling 'S', can I still change to Classic/Open Shell with Pro?

    Thanks again for any advice.

I only done 2 changes from S and they went to Home. This 'blurb' may be of help:
On your Windows 10 S PC on the 'Activation' tab there will be a section called 'Switch to Windows 10 Home'. Here there should be an option to go to the Microsoft Store, which you should click.
change from windows s at DuckDuckGo

    Thanks for your reply, Berton.

What is the difference between Home and pro?

If I did end up with Pro and didn't like it can it be changed back to Home?

I've done some more research and it looks like I misunderstood the situation. Something I read seemed to suggest that by deactivating S mode, the pc would be automatically switched to Pro. Looks like that isn't the case.

The Pro has a lot of settings that would be useful in a business or where a number of people use the same computer. I have both Home and Pro computers and in everyday use see no difference. The necessary files for Pro are included in Home but just not activated, using a Pro Product Key to Upgrade from Home doesn't take long.
