Hi, Windows 10 Pro on a Toshiba C655-S5540 laptop will not play any dvds. VLC will not play any dvds. In fact Nothing will play dvds. Can't even figure out how to get Autoplay to work. I have pretty much tried everything and about to take this thing down to the river and teach it how to swim.,
WMP does not play DVDs but VLC does [and, I understand, so do some apps in the MSStore].
I suggest that you describe what happens when you tell VLC to play a DVD.
And have a look in a DVD using File explorer.
- Do its folders & files show up, as they should?
- In a Video subfolder [Video_ts?, I don't have an example to hand] there will be a file called Video_ts.ifo. Tell that to play in VLC and the whole DVD should play just as if you'd put it in a conventional DVD player.

When did you last clean the Optics in the DVD drive ?
You have to be very careful doing this as the mechanism is very delicate. I use a torch at a low angle to highlight dust and a magnifying glass to check on the optics.
It needs to be done roughly yearly in my environment.
Toshiba Laptops with DVD drives are provided with a Toshiba Media Player & Video Player, both still work on my Toshiba Laptop, so does VLC Player. WMP does not contain a DVD decoder in Windows 10.
Can you hear the drive spin up at all?

You might wish to see if you can get Autoplay working with e.g. a flash drive.

I cleaned it 2 days ago. It used to make a little noise back when it worked. When I try to just play it with WMP, It will say, and WMP still says "No dick In Drive", Then it just ejects it disk and says to put a disk in drive. VLC says no disk as well.
Then it appears that your DVD drive itself is not working. Nothing to do with the software at all.
This has also happened to me. I managed to clean the lens a few times to get it working again but it then stopped completely.
