    Hi Kyhi,

unfortunately it does not work for me with windows 11 pro 22621.

Can you maybe share your current XPE files or show us your settings in the "build core" and his "subpoints".

    thank you
    Hi Kyhi,

It's been a while since my last post. I have to say that the Jan 7, 2022 files do not work for me also when using yesterday's release of Windows 11 build 22621.382 from TechBench.

Through some forum research, I found that if I go to the "Additions" section and within the "Add Windows 10 Files and Folders" add the following 2 lines

    \Windows\System32\Windows.UI.Core.TextInput.dll
    \Windows\System32\windowsudk.shellcommon.dll

then that allows my build to boot to a stable desktop and have all applications operate normally.

Without those two lines, the build will not boot to desktop or it will get a quickly flashing message saying "Hold ESC key to prevent Startls from loading".

Also, the log file for a good build shows a new error message under the "Warnings" heading that states:
Error: Wimlib Extract mrxsmb10.sys from Install.wim Return: 49 - File Not Found
Not sure if that is all that important.

Lastly, with the 2 lines added and booting to the stable Win10XPE desktop, there is a message box appearing in the lower right which says "Language preferences". The box will remain there until I click on it and then it disappears and another box pops up in upper left which says "You'll need a new app to open this ms-settings link".

I would be nice to have a complete refresh of the project available for download that would have built in support for 22H2 not have the "Language preferences" box appear.

Thank you for your continuing support.

Can't get PE Network Manager to work

    Hi,

    Complete newbie here!

Using PE Network Manager for LAN only. I am not using wifi.

It can see the network, but PE Network Manager just sits there saying "starting network support (Wepeinit)...

I have been unable to get on my network.

    Thanks!

I'm sorry to respond so late but I don't spend much time in the forums lately.

I have never used "Switch to Admin". I have never had a need for it. It is my understanding that Win10XPE normally runs under a system account and I find that account has all the authority that most apps and tools need. In the last several years, I think I have encountered less than 4 applications that required an Administrator account and I didn't need any of them. I use my build of Win10XPE to help diagnose and fix troubled PC's and to recover data. I never think of it as a portable Windows or a Windows to Go. In other words, it is a tool not a production system.

But it is a very useful tool and as such I am grateful to ChrisR for its development and to Kyhi and APT for its continued maintenance and why yesterday I asked for a refresh of the build files.

Even if a refresh of the build files were made available today, I am quite certain that it would still take some time to iron out all the issues that users will come across. Issues as the Administrator not working that you found. And I just found that the application "OCCT" does not work under 22H2 but works under 21H2.

Maybe the upcoming version 12 will resolve that... maybe

Win10XPE - Build Your Own Rescue Media [2]-image106.jpg

This Project was a joint effort between ChrisR and Myself and it was developed with the user in mind, easy to update and not requiring Administration... All the tools are there, Add Files, Add Registry, Application Version Update Button, Easy to follow Coding, etc... Every script follows the same process and flow, uses the same project variables... All a user needs to do is maybe change an Application Variable due to vendor changes in file name or URL... Other then that, things have been pretty consistent.. Which is what has made Win10XPE a very popular recovery tool...

Windows 11 has intertwined a lot of things with Explorer.exe - Windows 11 has higher security and security requirements... Actually Windows 11 support comes from this Project using Explorer.exe from Windows 10, thus replacing windows 11 version of Explorer.exe... Which was the cause of Windows 11 not being usable with this project when first introduced... Slore hooks Win11 explorer.exe through his WinX Shell to get it to function.. Windows 11 has gone more App based rather then Application based... Although Windows 11 has not removed the older application, thus we had to rewrite the registry entries to use the older Windows Applications... JUST SAYING...

This Project was designed around Windows 10 - it has been patched and uses workarounds for Windows 11

I surely hope this helps you all understand the issues facing the use of Windows 11

    Sincerely
    KYHI
