    Calibre converting formats

I was forced to load Calibre to this pc (W10). My W7 pc went on a recovery program (waiting on a case fan)..

I have used Calibre to convert books for years, but when I installed it today for the life of me, I can not remember how to convert epub to mobi. I need to do this for my Kindle.

    Thanks in advance.

Which version of Calibre? Looks like the 64-bit version of Win10 needs Version Version: 5.22.1.
    calibre - Download for Windows

If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, please use calibre 3.48, which works with all Windows 7/Vista machines, from here. Simply un-install calibre and install 3.48, doing so will not affect your books/settings.

As for the converting, I'd think the Help file in the program should have help.

    Hi there
    easy enough

I'm using CALIBRE (5.22.1) on a Linux NAS but Calibre has an IDENTICAL GUI to the Windows version.

Right mouse click on the book brings up convert pane

Just enter input / output formats -- Kindles work on MOBI or (and) AZI3 Chose EPUB on input format and on output format chose MOBI or AZI3.

(Note on ist start up if you have re-installed calibre - choose the kindle model you have in the startup setup - makes for more accurate conversion - although it's pretty good anyway. I use kindle paperwhite but if you aren't sure choose Generic kindle. You only need to select the model at the initial startup after calibre re-install).

    cheers

Calibre Portable only remembers libraries that are placed inside the portable folder. So while you can open any library located anywhere on your computer with calibre Portable, it will not be remembered on restart unless it is located in the portable folder (i.e. in the same place as the "Calibre Library" folder).

By default your Calibre library (of books) is stored in C:\Users\<your_username>\Calibre Library (where <your_username> is the name of the account used to open Calibre).

If you want to change where books are saved then open Preferences > Import/export > Saving books to disc:

If you want to change the initial folder Calibre uses for connect_to_folder then open Preferences > Advanced > Tweaks:

    Hope this helps...
