News and Interests ‘Weather Icon’ change

    Windows 10 Pro 21H1 (19043.1081)

Has anyone had the ‘Weather Icon’ change and do nothing recently?
This morning my icon changed to that in the image below and started to corrupt the Notification icons. The Notification Area corruption issue apparently is a known issue and MS are aware of it.
Out of curiosity, I restored a 2 week old system image for a comparison and on the restart, the icon was exactly the same as that shown below.

Hi, that happens if you disable the weather 'card' (I posted a comment under the tutorial).

    Steve,

For me, the icon did not change in appearance, (I had Icon and Text) checked. But, for the last three days it failed to update, throughout the day. Only way I could get it to update temp, was to reboot my PC.

I finally just gave up on it yesterday, and turned it off.

    I wish you luck.

Thanks dalchina - as far as I know, the weather ‘card’ is enabled.
Thanks WXC – I have restarted several times this morning with no change – maybe tomorrow/day after.
It’s not a big issue and will monitor it.
    Cheers

Something I have just noticed with the Taskbar R/click menu after a restart – it has suddenly had features which show in the image in post #1, disappear.
It may be related. Again I’ll monitor it.

Does N&I actually show a blue rectangle with the weather?

I found after I disabled that, Edge showed it was enabled. I had to disable it, enable it, wait a couple of mins as per my comment after the tutorial.

Note that the lastest preview update (see News section) fixes taskbar appearance issues.

No, there isn't any weather showing even though Edge shows the 'card' being enabled.
Any amount of toggling the setting/restarting doesn't change anything.
We all know this 'News and Interests/weather' is flawed and seems to affect users in different ways. I'm sure an update in the future will put things right. If not, I won't lose any sleep.

    Cheers.

Edit - Checking Windows Update - it shows system fully up to date.

Feel free to apply the preview update and disable the icon completely.

And remember - after enabling it in Edge, wait several minutes.

Well, just for the heck of it, I thought I would turn it back on and see if anything had changed.

To my surprise, it is now working perfectly, again.

I did nothing, other than turning it off, leaving it off for a few hours, and turning it back on. We'll see how long it last.

Good luck, to anyone else having an issue with it.
