    Open PDF with Adobe Acrobat

    I am using Windows 10, version 10.0.19042

Every time I open a pdf with Adobe Acrobat a window pops up and asks if I want
to set Adobe as my default. I say yes and the window closes.

If I check settings by file type, I see my preference has been changed to MS Edge.
I change it back to Adobe.

The next time I open a pdf file, I get that same window and find my preference has
been changed back to MS Edge.

What is going on here, must I go through this every time I open a pdf file ???

    Thanks for any help.

Go to Settings / Choose default applications by file type and make the setting there for pdf files.

Adobe Reader is a bloatware solution for reading pdf files. I removed it and now use Chrome or Edge to view pdf files.

    Open PDF with Adobe Acrobat

As mentioned in my post, I have done just that, several times, to no avail.

Sorry to read you don't like Adobe Acrobat. I prefer it to MS Edge for a number of reasons.
I guess MS doesn't agree with me either.

    Thanks for the reply.

I assume you are using the latest version Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2021.005.20048. As far as I know older versions are no longer supported.

That is my default PDF Reader, no problem with making that the Default.

Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Set defaults by app > Adobe Acrobat Reader DC > Click on that > Manage > .pdf should obviously be Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as are some others.

Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Choose Default applications by file type > Scroll down to .pdf click on that Choose Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

That should stick, it does on mine.
