consent.exe periodically working on Solidworks fonts folder

Hi, I have installed Solidworks on my PC's secondary HDD and consent.exe (and others, but baby steps for now) kinda regularly (and frequently) accesses a fonts folder located in the Solidworks installation, thus creating apparently unnecessary activity on my drive.

From what I have seen online, consent.exe should be related to UAC (the path displayed by procmon is C:\WINDOWS\system32\consent.exe so it should not be a virus), so why on earth does it run automatically and periodically without me ever using Solidworks, and why does it so only for that exact folder?? Is there a way to control this kind of activity?
I can provide procmon screenshots if needed.

Thanks to anyone that will help, this is driving me crazy

consent.exe verifies digital signature online before showing up UAC to let user know if an executable being launched is signed or not.

It could be your custom fonts are being registered and used by other programs, but that's as far as my imagination goes.

You can right click on "C:\WINDOWS\system32\consent.exe" and verify it's signed by MS.

I'm scared of how powerful the imagination of who designed Windows must be.

I've checked consent.exe as you've suggested and it's signed by Microsoft so it should be ok. I'd hope there is some kind of settings for these things but it looks like it's impossible to figure out.

    Thank you for your time

If it's singed you have nothing to worry about security wise.

And for consuming PC resources, it likely doesn't waste much, likely not even noticable, so just get over it.
If you insist a bit of detective work with process monitor and googling out unknowns should help to at least understand the behavior.

Searching for MS articles about consent and how it works should help too.

I'd really like to get over all of this, the problem is that this activity (together with other program that access the same folder, as mmc.exe, systemsettings.exe, even firefox, along with other more different activity of course) wakes up my PC's secondary HDD so I can't enjoy the silence of my primary SSD while I'm using just that drive. I'd even be ok with all this stuff running in the background without asking, if only it ran when the HDD is already spinning because of my explicit activity. To me it's kinda embarassing how poorly these things are thought out and designed in Windows.

For sure I'll so some more digging and, in case I find something, I will update this thread

I might have found that while I am on battery, all of that activity does not happen. If that's really the case, is there a way to set the same behaviour for battery mode and plugged-in mode, for example a registry tweak or a scheduled task of some sort? (I have never noticed this since the PC is usually plugged-in)

    Thanks :)

Further edit: nope, it happens anyway. My bad

As it turns out, it was just me not understanding how fonts work in Windows. Now, I have uninstalled the Solidworks fonts from Windows Settings and the scanning activity seems to be gone.

I hope this was really as easy as it sounds now. Thank you again for your help :)
