Startup Program Needs Elevation

Just purchased new pc with win10 pro build - finished complete updating. I have a backup utility called Syncback Pro that I use for backup, which works fine. I have set it up to backup my Documents, Downloads and Desktop folders as a test - all the normal methods of launching the program work ok and all is fine. I have added the program to be auto started at boot via the shell:startup command and this is where I have a problem. When the machine boots to Desktop a windows pops up saying that the program requires Elevation. (Unfortunately I do not have access to the machine at the moment and cannot state the exact message). As a user I have been configured as an Administrator as default and after some research I have followed all the suggestions re permissions of drives, folders, etc via Properties/Security etc. It appears this Elevation requirement is only enacted when it is configured to be auto started at boot via shell:startup. Any suggestions to help me fix this will be most appreciated.

Have you tried using Task Scheduler it can be configured to start programs at log time.

When you say "via the shell:startup command" do you mean "Windows PowerShell"? If so then did you run PowerShell as Administrator?

Unfortunately I will not have access to pc until this afternoon - but thank you for your quick replies. From memory I did not use the Power Shell but the normal run command. I first used shell:appsfolder, then shell:startup and then dragged the icon from the appsfolder window to the startup window. To be honest I cannot remember if I ran the run command as Administrator or not - I think I did. I followed many suggestions.

Create an elevated shortcut and put it into the Startup folder.

I use SyncBackFree, which runs automatically with no pop-up at Windows startup.

Solved. The answer was to not use the startup folder but to check the Start with Windows option with the application itself. I played around with different options of ticking the check box within the app and having the icon in the startup folder but for whatever reason this machine does not like having a shortcut in the startup folder. Thank you all for your assistance.

I have left it unchecked, and files are still backed up automatically.
