huffman,
Open Notepad++ and press Ctrl+F10 to toggle the Menu bar back on. Then, in Settings (on the Menu bar), click Preferences, and in the first panel that shows up, toward the bottom and on the right, you should see a checked box that says Hide the Menu Bar. Uncheck it, and you're laughing.
I downloaded and opened the portable version of the latest build. Works just fine. If yours doesn't after you try the method above, I suggest you uninstall it, then download the portable 64-bit zip from Source Forge, extract the files to the folder of your choice, make a shortcut to the executable, and you're home free again. Menu bar and all.
Whoops. Windows 7, eh? Download the portable.zip (not 64) at Notepad++ download | SourceForge.net
The portable seems to have worked and I solved another issue that I was having.
I could NOT download any files from Edge. I used Revo Uninstaller and removed Edge from my Windows 7 PC. I then downloaded Edge using IE and installed it. Now I can download using Edge, but still not downloading where I want it to.
I will post how to do that later. Have a great day.
Hey, Bert,
Just click the Change button and you'll get to scroll in File Explorer until you get to the folder location you want your downloads in. Select that, and you're good to go. (And leave the "Ask me what to do ..." OFF, as it is in your shot.)
Yep. I have my downloads in Firefox going to a second partition on my internal drive as I use it the most.
There's no good reason you can't use that same folder in that second partition for your Edge downloads. You probably keep that folder empty most of the time, anyway, 'cuz your downloads are mostly things that go to other destinations or get used and deleted. No reason to hold onto software installation files, for instance, and any music (or whatever) you download gets moved to the appropriate folder.
I keep Edge and the discontinued IE downloads at default because some of Microsoft's downloads go there regardless of the setting along with others such as linked from a Web page and it's easier to keep them sorted.
