Photos get reduced when copied to PC using Windows 'Your Phone' app

No solution but would ask about the formats of the files, being saved to a PC may be compressing them more than on a phone. Also involved is the actual size versus the Size on disk seen in Properties of the file.

1 You could do your photo transfers in File explorer while your phone is connected by USB.

2 You could ditch 'Your phone' and use MyPhoneExplorer instead. It's an excellent application.

I've just been reminded of one thing [because my phone has just had an OS update] so I'll post it now while I'm sober.

1 When I first connect, I always use a USB cable just out of habit to keep things simple.
- I have to accept the warning on the phone about this USB connection & I have to select the always do this option or I'll keep getting asked.
- I no longer have to do anything else but I do recall that when I first installed MPE on the phone I had to work through the additional steps given in the How to use MPE instructions under the subheading Connecting via USB-Cable

2 I then test out connecting to my phone's WiFi hotspot through my router.

- I select Fixed IP address and enter in the IP I am shown on the phone's MPE client

- When I've tested that I set the connection to AutoDetect so I don't have to bother changing anything however I decide to connect on any given occasion.
- I include this Fixed IP step first because AutoDetect does not perform well otherwise.
- If, as has just happened, my phone has an OS update, the MPE IP can change so I have to repeat this step.

3 I'm then set up for normal running and only have to worry about working through the other entries in its settings. I'm just preparing snips of each dialog and will be able to help with any that you want to discuss - the real power of MPE comes in the Sync & Multi-Sync sections.

Despite what the FJSoft instructions say, don't install Samsung KIES even if your phone is a Samsung.
Install the driver from

This achieves everything that is necessary and is a lot simpler.

I use USB connections first out of habit because I believe that they are the simplest but FJSoft definitely seem to think WiFi is simplest so have a go. I do almost always use the WiFi connection but I have simply never tried doing it first.

If it does not connect correctly at the first attempt then note my step 2 [in post #7 above] for getting the correct IP address from the phone's MPEClient.

Then you might wish to make a note to investigate USB connections later on.
- There does seem to be a USB driver - Xiaomi Redme Note 8T usb driver search results - DuckDuckGo
- If you have ever connected your phone to your computer by USB then Windows might have installed some sort of basic / generic driver so you might also like to experiment with a direct connection to see what happens [It should appear in File explorer - my phone is called Handiest for reasons that would bore you].

- USB debugging is explained in a link in the FJSoft instructions Enable USB Debugging in Developer Options - DroidViews - It is a hidden item because Google hate us all
