    @Try3 - Thank you.
Was unable to establish phone connection to PC by USB cable. Connection also failed via Wi-Fi but was able to connect and use Bluetooth, which is slow to transfer photos at only 100 KB/s but at least it does work and the photos do not get resized downwards, which is good.

    USB Cable: -
I installed the USB ADB driver but Device Manager shows 'This device cannot start (code 10)'. See photo.
I had enabled USB-Debugging on my phone.

    Wi-Fi: -
Failed to obtain the IP address of the phone. Phone is connected to router using 5GHz Wi-Fi and PC is connected to router via Ethernet cable. Phone IP address is 192.168.1.222.

    Bluetooth: -
Although I can transfer photos some synchronisations were unauthorised but I can live with these.

@Try3 - I saw your "if it does not connect correctly at the first attempt then note my step 2 [in post #7 above] for getting the correct IP address from the phone's MPEClient." so I did this and now I can connect via Wi-Fi as well. As per your post I entered the IP address manually and then set it to Autodetect.

At least I have two options now. It is just the USB that doesn't work.

    Thank you.

    Ken,

When you try the USB connection, you should get a prompt on the phone that you have to accept. Did that happen?

Since WiFi works, sorting out USB is not essential. You can move straight on to setting it up - File menu, Settings. I could post my settings and notes about each of its sections if you like.

Setting up is done from File menu, Settings.

I also found Bluetooth speeds to be unbearably slow. I tried it only once then went back to WiFi & USB.

MPE settings - general comments about the user interface

Photos get reduced when copied to PC using Windows 'Your Phone' app-ui.png

You can expand some or all of the groupings on the left.

    - The user [i.e. phone] Handiest is in bold because that's what I am currently connected to.
    - The Files Internal storage entry is in bold because that's what I am currently looking at.

Notice how obvious the green colouring I chose is. I'll comment on that further in my dits about Settings. If you have more than one phone you can set up a completely different lot of MPE Settings and make the colour scheme different in the hope of not getting confused while you are working.

    MPE settings 02 Startup

The only ones that I regard as significant are:

Connect on startup - This just saves running MPE then manually by right-clicking on the entry in the User grouping [see UI post].

Start multi-sync - I leave this off because I might be running MPE just to check something or to copy across something and may not want to do a sync at the moment. MultiSync can be run manually form the Extras menu and that's what I do.

    MPE settings 03 Appearance

Colour scheme - Green - I used to have two or three phones to sync using MPE. I made their colour schemes different so I would not get confused between them. [Orange & violet are really shocking shades that stand out very clearly indeed]

Display format for names - This is for the Contacts view of the interface. I never use it but wanted to maintain the same first name - last name layout that I use in Outlook and elsewhere.

Calender settings - I never use the MPE Calendar view of the interface.

Calender settings, Calculate holidays - I leave this clear just to make sure nothing gets done that might get passed through to the Calendar I sync to the phone itself.

Yes I did accept 'File Transfer' and a second time it asked again and I accepted 'Photo Transfer' but no joy. If you look at the first picture I posted you can see the 'Android ADB Interface' "Could not Start".

I tried copying photos via WiFi and it was 25X faster than Bluetooth so I am happy with that. Took only 1 minute instead of 25 minutes to copy over 145 MB photos.

I'll forget about USB and Bluetooth so I will now disable 'USB Debugging' on my phone.

    Thanks for your help.

The 'Android ADB Interface' problem means you have not installed the appropriate driver.
    - Mine is actually within a Device manager group Samsung phone
    - Perhaps being in a non-branded group is also an indication of a problem? I can only speculate.
    - The entry only appears for mine when connected by USB. When connected by WiFi it is not there so I don't see it as being a show stopper for setting up or using MPE.

I'm working through each section of setting up MPE so that File transfer problem might get sorted out by my examples.

I disabled both those notification entries at the bottom because I found them distracting.
