I'd hate the idea of my PC appealing to the European Court of Human(?) Rights....
.. which reminds me-- 'Humans' is on on Channel 4 tonight.. all about the rise of AI in 'human' form.
I, too, fear the intrusiveness ... so I don't use cortana.
But even if there were no privacy concerns ... I still would not use it. I have no use for it. If I need to find something I use google. And I clear my cookies frequently (and obsessively).
In summary ... cortana offers me NOTHING. So I have no reason to use it.
I do get a chuckle out of how people love to hate Microsoft or anything about Microsoft.... to be sure they are not perfect and we often wish that they would do things that "we" think would advance their products. The same is true for other manufacturers... Google, Apple or others when the development doesn't go the way we think.... but most of all I don't get how people will willingly give all their data to these companies and then bad mouth Microsoft when they do some of the same.... your ISP's collect all your transgression on the web and sell it.... if you guys are so head up the butt about Microsoft doing the same, and you allow google or your ISP's or any of the others out there that are collecting your personal data which you have freely chosen to give to them.... a lot of times under the banner of "oh well I have nothing to hide" which is not the point.... don't blame Microsoft.... blame yourselves for us living in a time when we have no privacy.... because you actually gave it away
