    Yes. I'd recommend doing so.

Ok, just created the account, fresh Windows 10 interface.

My problem didn't appear, with or without Winsetview.

By the way, I remember trying to reset view to default and my problem was still there...

You were right assuming this was a registry tweak on my main account.

Now, that will be hard to find which one....

Good to hear it's okay with a new profile.

I would like to see if I can isolate the setting causing the problem on your main account. If you can send me your NTUser.dat file, I might be able to replicate the issue. To do that, you would login with the new account, enable display of hidden files, disable hiding system files, and then ZIP and send C:\Users\YourMainAccount\NTUser.dat using a service such as WormHole.

You can private message me the wormhole file link or email the link (my email address is in the WinSetView manual).

@Johnny Rico I got the ntuser.dat file and did some testing with it. Unfortunately, I was not able to recreate the problem. It probably depends on some third-party tool to be running. Your profile is really large (i.e. a lot of software has been installed over the years) so it's no small task to try to narrow it down. You could try uninstalling programs that modify Explorer one by one and check as you go to see of the problem is fixed. Or work in the other direction with the new account and add back those programs and check each time.

Your profile is really huge due to the account having been around a long time and many programs having been installed. It might be a good time to migrate to that new account. In addition to the Explorer view being cleared up, you may find it to be a bit snappier all around as well.

    Yeah, you're probably right...

Is there any nice tool to migrate "some" of my main settings from my primary account ?

And, when migration is complete, can I totaly delete this primary admin account ?

I must confess when I have to deal with OS account and security, I'm not really at ease..

    Thanks

You can export certain keys from HKCU from one account and then import them into another account, but you have to be careful that you don't capture references to the account name or profile path (or edit those in the captured file). I'm not aware of any tool to help with that task.

After you've moved all your files to the new account, you can delete the old account, files and all, but I would recommend waiting a long time before doing that to be absolutely sure you've got everything. Unless disk space is critical, there's no need to be in any hurry.

Yeah sure, I'm used to transition time before wiping everything :)

I think this is time for me to be aware of things related to account, files and folders, permissions, startup and such...

Not an easy task, but rewarding at last
