Irritating programs that I can't remove - Bing and Magix popups

I recently had to reinstall everything following a system disk failure. All now working and behaving nicely, except for Bing and Magix apps.

Firstly Bing. I have tried all the things you can find by Googling to stop Bing loading automatically when I start up. I don;t want it to do so. If I wanted a browser to start automatically I'd go for Google Chrome. Also, if I enter something in the Start box that needs to go to a search engine, you guessed it, it uses Bing. How can I park Bing somewhere where it will just keep itself to itself. This wasn't an issue before the installation pre-system crash. I am now using latest Windows 10 installation (though I thought that was what i was suing before).

A slightly different problem, is Magix. I have Photostory ane Video Editor installed, and every time I load either one, a box pops up on the bottom right trying to sell me the update or something. Not a big problem - just click on X but I find it a bit annoying that a paid for program keeps advertising other products made by the same company.

Note that if you click on certain places on the login screen, this can trigger a Bing search.

What does Bing show you? Do you mean the Edge browser launches, with a Bing search result?

- there might be an option to disable this.
- you could write a small script in Autohotkey (free) to close that window specifically.
- if there's a specific exe responsible for it in the installation folder, rename it. To identify the exe easily use Winspy++ (free) and move its target over that window.

To avoid that pain, as is endlessly recommended here, routinely and regularly use disk imaging. E.g. Macrium Reflect (Free) + large enough external storage. Many advantages.

You mean full images of OS partitions and data partitions? That's a long time between data backups, unless you are also doing data folders/files backups - maybe bi-monthly?

Regular disk imaging of both all partitions comprising your installed O/S and any others you like is entirely different.. and means e.g. you can recover relatively painlessly to a previous good state even if your system disk fails e.g. - other advantages.

E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external storage.
