What happened when you tried Revo in Safe Mode with or without networking?

Just a tip, if needing the files sooner I would install the free LibreOffice which also had its roots in the old Star Office, works with the same files and more formats than other free offerings. Home | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft

    Hello Frenchman 96,

Reboot your laptop..download IObit Uninstaller ( the free version ) and uninstall Apache Openoffice..don't click on the Pro version links in Iobit Uninstaller as the free version will be sufficient to remove any leftovers . Reboot laptop and re-install Apache Open office.

This worked for me ages ago before i started using Libreoffice.

I use OpenOffice 4.1.8 installed on 9th January.

I always uninstall the previous version first which was 4.1.7 The usual Windows way, never use any bloatware uninstallers.

Also never installing the Quickstarter module or auto-updater on the Install choices.

Don't get your error message, on any of my spreadsheets.

I would follow what it says. Install version 4.1.7 again and do not install the Quickstart module. Restart your PC and then uninstall in the usual way.Settings > Apps > OpenOffice > Modify or Uninstall.

I would also use SFC and DISM checks on Windows, and an HDD/SSD scan.

    Hello @frenchman96,

I thought I would try and help by testing this on my computer. I have OpenOffice 4.1.7 installed.

[1] I created a System Image, and then uninstalled it using Programs and Features. It uninstalled successfully.

[2] I re-imaged my computer, and then used Revo Uninstaller - FREE, including the Scan for leftover items, again, it uninstalled successfully.

[3] Perhaps you could try reinstalling OpenOffice, and then try uninstalling it again!

For others who might be interested in Revo Uninstaller - FREE . . .

     Revo Uninstaller - FREE

    About Revo Uninstaller - FREE:

The Uninstaller module is Revo Uninstaller ‘s primary feature for situations when a program won’t uninstall normally or when you have some doubts that a program has not been uninstalled completely.

Also when a program is uninstalled, often times there are multiple files, folders, and/or Registry entries left on your system, which can cause various issues if not removed. This happens more frequently than you might think.

Revo Uninstaller acts as both a replacement and a supplement to the built-in functionality in Windows by first running the built-in uninstaller for the program, and then scanning for leftover data afterwards, making it your best choice when it comes to completely remove stubborn programs, temporary files, and other unnecessary program data that is left behind after the standard uninstall process.

I find that when uninstalling software, Revo Uninstaller [ FREE ] is excellent. It has an option to Scan for leftover items after the initial uninstall [ using the softwares own uninstall process if one exists ] using an Advanced Scan option.

    > Website & Download => Revo Uninstaller [ FREE ]

    I hope this helps!

That is true. I just posted that for anybody following this thread and was interested in what Revo Uninstaller was via a brief description.

I think what you're seeing is that the uninstaller for Open Office has failed.

Revo, like all such tools, tries to run the standard uninstaller first, then runs its scan for leftovers.

    You have two options.

    a. Reinstall Open Office, then uninstall, in the hope that this repairs the uninstall capability. Then run Revo again.
    b. Continue past the prompts related to the failed Open Office uninstaller to trigger Revo's own scan.

I would try (a) as this is likely to lead to a cleaner result.

You have an old version of free Revo, I think (4 is current). Free does not provide Forced uninstall, where you browse to any part of the program- some exe or folder- and let the unstaller run from there.

Wise uninstaller includes forced uninstall in its free version.
