I should add that I got the machine from a friend, and it wasn't his. Apparently, the former owner bought it with Windows 7 installed, then upgraded to Windows 10. Too late, I learned about how the upgrade kept the old OS in a folder named "Windows.old," but that folder was long gone by the time that I got the unit.

Push comes to shove, I'll take it to the local IT shop, have them eliminate everything and install Windows 7, but I'd like to save the money. But thanks again to everyone!
If you wish I can guide you to reinstall win 7 on the computer. Last week I did it on 2 laptops of a friend. With all updates installed, They are working better than new,

I was talking with the people at my local IT shop, and they're going to wipe the hard drive and install Windows 7. I'd hoped to get answers to my questions, but it's not happening. I wish you all well, and be safe in these calamitous times.

Checking back I noticed the last sentence I thought was on my post I see it isn't, what I intended to say is that many times customizations of Win10 including removing the default apps get them returned at the next Version Upgrade [twice yearly] and sometimes with Build updates [usually monthly].

If you create the deprovisioned apps registry key they don't come back.

What I make money at requires that I see exactly what my clients see and describe and customizations take part of that away as they won't be doing the same.

Got it. Just like forum admins that need to keep all features installed in order to help with problems.

    Later that same year

    Hello, all -

First of all, I was able to delete a lot of what I consider to be Windows 10 garbage apps, like the ones I was complaining about: Photos, Paint 3D etc. Had to get into Powershell as administrator to do it, but I did.

This leaves the incompatability of Microsoft Digital Image Suite with Windows 10 (outlined earlier in this thread). While it is a 32-bit program, every other 32-bit program that I've installed on Windows 10 does fine. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
